Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenna Kopacz.
Hi Cheyenna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Hi, I am Cheyenna. I graduated from nursing school in 2014 and worked for Phoenix Children’s Hospital as a brand-new Registered Nurse. I always knew I wanted to go back to school and become a Nurse Practitioner. After Phoenix Children’s, I went on to work at Mayo Clinic while I obtained my Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Arizona State University. I graduated as a Nurse Practitioner in 2019 and went directly into a Primary Care Clinic. I quickly discovered that I wanted to give my patients more than what I was capable of doing in that specific type of setting.
There are time restrictions when working in a clinical setting and it makes it difficult to provide personalized care. I knew that I wanted to start my own business at that time. Because of COVID, my dreams were put on hold and I started working in the community. I learned a lot about how people live and how people are so much more than a diagnosis. Socioeconomic class and availability of resources are large determinants of health, something I read about but really hadn’t experienced as a provider.
I have been working on At Your Doorstep Medical and Concierge Care for months and was able to take on my first patient in October 2022. I created a medical practice where I can give people the care they deserve. I am a mobile Nurse Practitioner so I bring your primary care and urgent care needs to your home. I take pride in longer visits that allow for time to get to know you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. I wanted to start the business a long time ago but the pandemic made it difficult.
I also had my second son 9 months ago so that postponed my timeline. I wanted to make sure that being a Mom came first before diving full force into my business. I don’t have any business experience so this entire process has been a learning curve.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about At Your Doorstep Medical and Concierge Care?
This is a mobile concierge medical practice. It is a Nurse Practitioner-run organization and I bring all primary care and urgent care needs to your home. It is designed to help patients avoid long wait times and exposure in their PCP’s office as well as the ER or urgent care. This care is available those who have insurance and those who do not. The pricing model is designed to fit the needs of anyone in the community. It allows everyone to have personalized, quality, care. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner so I treat 6 months and older. I offer a la carte services, a weight loss program, and monthly memberships.
Memberships include an introductory call, and access to text/call me 7 days per week. Pricing includes telemedicine and at-home visits. This model sets me aside from others because I bring care to you. The waiting room is your home. I am most proud of my membership because it allows patients to have direct communication with their providers, something you can’t get with a standard primary care clinic.
We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
I feel that taking risks is the only way to get to where you want to be. Complacency doesn’t foster growth. Starting your own company is always a risk but I refuse to let the fear of failing prevent me from doing what I love and giving the community what they deserve.
