Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Bonilla
Hi Celeste, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story started when I got my very first job at a hair salon as soon as I turned sixteen. I didn’t really have any interest in hair at the time, besides doing my friend’s hair in my mom’s bathroom when I was younger. I started to become more interested in the hair side of my job, instead of the front desk work I was hired to do. My boss at the time, told me to look into touring a beauty school. She thought I would be good at it because she would ask me questions about what formulas to use if I was in her shoes and we would end up saying the exact same formulas! I was in college at the time and I decided maybe I should tour a school just to look around. I toured the very first beauty school I found and signed up to start two weeks later. I dropped out of college and it was the best decision I ever made. I quickly fell in love with doing hair.
After I graduated and became a licensed cosmetologist, I started working at my very first commission salon. I started off as an assistant and I slowly made my way to becoming a stylist and taking clients five days a week. I knew I wanted to open up my own salon eventually. Five years later, I opened up my own salon suite and I now have my own business!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been the easiest road, but, not something that I can’t handle! The hardest part of my journey would be trying to learn all of the things I have to do to start my business.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist/suite owner in Mesa, Arizona! I have been doing hair for a total of seven years. I specialize in blondes, balayage, and extensions. But, I can do it all! I am most proud of everything I have accomplished so far and for taking the leap of finally being on my own. What sets me apart from others is that I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make my clients happy. This allows me to make sure that they are always leaving feeling beautiful and confident inside and out. My chair is more than just any other hairstylist’s chair. I create a special bond with all my clients, and they trust me.
I am always looking for more continuing education and new ways to make my client’s experience in my space better. My next goal is to have my own salon at a storefront location.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think in the next 5-10 years the beauty industry is going to change. I believe there will be more clean/green products that are free from harmful chemicals and toxins. I hope the same for most color lines. Beauty products will focus on approaching to everyone’s overall well-being, nutrition, and lifestyle factors. I think AI will definitely affect the beauty industry as well. Trends are changing every year so I have no idea what they will be like 5-10 years from now!
