Hidden Gems: Meet Bryan Gonzalez of Bryan Roams Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Gonzalez.

Hi Bryan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into the world of film began not in a studio, but with a tiny, two-megapixel lens on my Nintendo DSi. As a kid, that little device became my window to the world. I’d ride my bike and capture moments that just felt important, the way the sun hit the trees, the quiet connection I felt to a place, or the spontaneous laughter of my family and friends. I was always chasing a feeling, a moment that deserved to be frozen in time.

I soon discovered stop motion animation, and suddenly, my entire childhood bedroom was a stage. With a stack of books and a few toys, I learned how to breathe life into inanimate objects, one photograph at a time. The patience and precision it took to create those tiny worlds was my first real lesson in the power of visual storytelling.

That early fascination was a quiet passion until a middle school fair changed everything. While others talked about coding and engineering, I was captivated by a teacher and their student discussing Film and TV production. The idea of joining a team and bringing the stories in my head to life, making people feel something, feel excited, was a revelation. I realized I wasn’t just a kid with a camera; I was a storyteller looking for a voice.
When I got to high school, there was no doubt in my mind which class I would take first. I dived headfirst into the craft, learning the language of the lens, the art of editing, and the structure of a powerful script. It was there that I started to truly own my passion. I wrote and directed my own short films, entering them into festivals and, to my surprise, winning awards. Each win was more than a trophy; it was fuel for the fire. It showed me that my stories had an impact, and it ignited a joy that kept me motivated to create more.

My passion for film went beyond just my own projects. I became the director for our school’s daily news broadcast and also one of the hosts on our weekly show, which taught me how to lead a team and tell stories for a wider audience. It wasn’t just a class; it was a real-world experience that shaped me into the creative professional I am today.

Now, as a photographer and videographer, I carry all of those lessons with me. My business isn’t just about capturing images, it’s about continuing the journey I started years ago, one frame at a time. I’m still that kid with a camera, but now I am helping people and businesses tell their unique stories. I still believe in the power of a single moment and the thrill of making people feel something.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t been smooth. My biggest struggle was a period of creative burnout, which led me to put down my camera and stop creating. What once brought me joy felt like a burden.

That all changed when I saw an online film festival with a unique challenge: to film everything on a phone. The idea brought back a wave of nostalgia for my childhood days with my Nintendo DSi. I saw it as a sign to try again. I chose a passion project from high school, a script called “The Hotline” that had been waiting for years in my drawer. I threw myself into it, acting, directing, producing, and editing as a one-man crew, pouring every ounce of passion into bringing the story to life.

After many delays and cancellations for the live event, the news came. My film had been eliminated in the early rounds due to a massive number of submissions. It was a crushing disappointment. I felt like I had failed, and the old doubts crept back in. Maybe I wasn’t good enough anymore.

But instead of giving up, that failure became my motivation. It pushed me to see my skills in a new light. I realized my passion wasn’t just about creating for myself; it was about creating for others. I decided to turn my hobby into a business, and now I use my skills to provide value and create amazing stories for the community and other businesses. The camera I once put down is now my tool for building connections and helping others share their vision.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bryan Roams Media?
That’s when I decided to start my own media business, focused on photography and videography. Bryan Roams Media is built on a single, powerful belief: every person and every brand has a story that deserves to be told. I offer a diverse range of services, capturing the unique stories of weddings, engagements, portraits, graduations, quinceañeras, live events, and baptisms. I also work with businesses to create stunning branding and marketing content, and with real estate agents to produce captivating real estate visuals.

What truly sets me apart is my ability to see a story in every person and place I go. I’m known for my flexibility, kindness, and professionalism, which make every experience a collaborative and amazing one. I don’t just photograph a scene; I reveal its heart. My most profound moments of pride come not from awards, but from a client’s emotional reaction to the final product. The most rewarding feeling isn’t winning; it’s when my work helps someone see the beauty and importance of their own story.

I want your readers to know that my brand is more than just a service; it’s a partnership. I’m here to use my skills to bring your vision to life, one frame at a time.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that might surprise people who know my work is that what I create visually is often inspired by what I hear. I’m a huge fan of audio media, from podcasts to music, and I can’t start my morning without it. I believe a great song tells a story just like a great photograph, and my work is often an attempt to capture that same emotion and rhythm. In my off time, you’ll find me channeling that inspiration into playing instruments like the ukulele and guitar. Beyond music, I have a deep love for the outdoors and traveling with my family. My camera is always with me on these trips to national parks, where I get to capture the beautiful scenery and find new stories in the natural world. These personal passions aren’t just hobbies; they are the sources that continuously fuel my creativity and my love for storytelling, reminding me that the world is filled with beautiful moments waiting to be captured.
