Today we’d like to introduce you to Bradley Walker
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 4, 1985, to military parents, I was shaped by the contrasts of city streets and rural fields. My early years were spent between my father’s home in the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Projects in Cleveland and my grandparents’ rural residence in Wooster,OH. In 1991, life took a dramatic turn when my mother moved us in with her partner on the other side of the country-Los Angeles. The culture shock was intense, but familiar struggles from my past helped me adapt. School was a challenge, especially when defending my homosexual mother against ridicule, but it strengthened my resolve.
In 2000, we relocated to Phoenix, AZ, a place that felt like home from the start. Here, I thrived, finally able to focus on academics and athletics, graduating with honors. I went to University for a year but I became a father and dropped out to enter job market, and after working in various jobs, including: a semi-pro football career, a Wildland Firefighter , and a tough stint in aerospace manufacturing, I realized I wanted more. I had grown into a selfish and arrogant man child and I did not like what I saw in the mirror. At that point in time, I had been arrested or detained over 20 times. I used weed and alcohol to cope with a plethora of mental health issues. At 31, I met a mentor who introduced me to a new mindset focused on abundance-guiding me to discover my passion for helping others unlock their potential. I discovered the best way to express that desire to serve others was through social media and public speaking, so that was added to my success plan.
Fast forward to now-after finding my path with a direct marketing firm in 2023, I went from wanting to quit the firm to #1 Sales manager in the office within 5 months. After some unfortunate life events in October 2023, I resurfaced in January 2024 determined to piece it all together. I used some tips from my wife who has a decent following on TikTok and I started to rebuild my brand using my name. And now husband, father and business owner are just a few of my titles. However, my priorities are clear: Faith, Family, and Serve. I am driven by my mission to empower others.
To help people find their WHYpower™️, I wrote an book titled ‘WHYpower™️: Your drive is Inside.’
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
From childhood to adulthood, I dealt with traumas ranging from sexual abuse to domestic abuse and everything in between. I have dealt with addiction to drugs and alchohol, including a suicide attempt where I put a gun in my mouth and pulled the trigger. I am a retired 1% Outlaw from the ThunderGuards Motorcycle Club. I have been arrested over 20 times and I am a 2 time felon.
So no, this has not been a smooth road at all. I do not believe greatness is formed with “easy”. History’s greatest contributors to society were almost always born or raised from destitution and poverty. My journey has been tough and strenuous at times but I would not change it for anything. I come from a family who served in the military. My parents were baby boomers so mental health and participation trophies were not part of my upbringing. You worked hard and you shut up until you were spoken to. I learned early what I was made of.
Two weeks after I graduated high school, I was at a birthday party with my then girlfriend and my cousin, along with a good amount of other party goers from my school. Mostly the girls softball team and their friends, as my gf was a softball player. My cousin was already out of high school and needed to go to work early the next day so he asked me to take him home. I begged him to stay with me because the house was full of girls and he didn’t know it at the time, but he could have had his pick of almost any girl at the party. He had a good job and didn’t want to mess it up so he got me to take him home. I raced back to the party and as soon as I jumped out of my car the vibe just felt-off. Something strange was in the air. Granted it is Phoenix and it was around midnight and still over 100 degrees outside but something didn’t feel right. I was a young horny teen so I brushed it off easily so I can get back to the fun stuff. As I walked in the front door my gf ran to me and stopped me near the door a little wild in the eyes. She explains to me how she doesn’t know exactly who or how, but some Neo nazi skinheads had shown up at the party. Apparently, it was a friend of a friend type of situation. These guys were not invited. Since the home owners got them to stay in the back yard I decided to just stay inside. I was so young and dumb and horned up, I would have walked on glass to be with my gf that night. In retrospect, the decision to stay was very stupid and I should have called it a night. As you could guess, the night went south real fast and I found myself getting attacked by about ten skinheads. They were beating me with glass 40 bottles, wrought iron patio furniture and even got hit twice with brass knuckles. There is a lot I will skip through, but the point is I fought my way out of death’s grip. Because these guys weren’t gonna just stop if I surrendered on the ground. Their energy would have carried them over the edge and they would have killed me right there in that back yard. I guess somewhere in the back of my head I knew that because I remember almost everything during the scrum. I used some skill and some wits and the rest was luck. Long story short, I drove myself home that night. By the time my mother got me to the hospital in the early morning hours, half my face was swollen shut. But I survived….
My struggles have molded me into an unstoppable force, like a human tsunami against my opposition. I liken myself to a bulldozer. I do not go over or around obstacles-I break through.
We’ve been impressed with PHX PRIME Group,Inc., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Currently PHX PRIME Group,Inc is a start up. Originally founded in 2020 as PHX PRIME LLC, we initially tried to build the brand behind a clothing label with the same name. However,COVID knocked us out of consistent production so we adapted and now in 2024 we have converted to a corporation. As of now, I run the company along with my beautiful and supportive wife, Vanessa. Without her, PPG would not exist today-period. We are involved with b2b consultation and evaluation for business’ employee training like helping a company’s sales staff with industry specific sales training techniques, Leadership training and Leaders leading Leaders programs. Some of the tools I teach are the same tools I used to help me become the #1 leader and Team manager (Sales Manager) out of my former employer’s office within 5 months. Don’t let me sell myself short though, remember I started my growth journey 9 years ago and I had been a business owner for four years by this point. The best part of that experience was I wanted to quit within the first week of being with the agency. I am most proud of the resiliency and transformation PPG has undergone over the years. It has evolved at the same rate as my own personal growth, which allows me to also share my story on stage as a paid public speaker and I also volunteer in my local community at places like FMSC.org in Mesa,AZ. I believe that is a great recipe for success and shows future business partners that we are hardworking, trust worthy and loyal. Founder and CEO Bradley P. Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I have been a risk taker my whole life, starting as a child when I would jump off the roof of the mattress store next door with my friends, We knew how to tuck and roll so we would not hurt our feet and then the roll prevented any broken bones. Yes it was stupid. But calculated.
I approach business the same way. I believe with the correct amount of information provided, I am intelligent enough to deduce a solid decision to go or no go. If I am unable to formulate a decision on my own, I gather the team.
Finally, I would have to say my biggest risk I have taken so far was quitting my job in 2020 to start my company. I did not have a huge savings. I did not have a lot of experience. As a matter of fact I had ZERO experience, but I had resolve. I had drive. Most importantly I had belief in myself that I could do it. I believed I could build something out of nothing and change my family’s life forever. And by the way, that is very important. BELIEF IN YOURSELF. Because when I started the only person who believed in me at the time was my ex and at some point she gave up on believing in me. I have family members to this day, right this moment as I am doing this interview, who do NOT believe in me. And guess what? That is ok. Let them believe whatever the hell they want. My wife and kids believe in me and so do I-that is all I need. I am so grateful to our Creator for the blessing’s and strength He has granted my family and I. We are beyond ecstatic for what the future holds. Thank you Voyage Phoenix for your time and placement. This is beyond cool.
