Hidden Gems: Meet Beth Wagner of Sedona Red Rock Coffee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Wagner.

Hi Beth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Hi, my name is Beth Wagner owner of Sedona Red Rock coffee. I am a one women coffee roasting operation.

I have been roasting for 10 years. I started experimenting and learning to roast in my garage in 2012.

Finally, in March of 2015, I left my employment of eight years to follow my dream of opening and operating my own coffee shop and roasting company in Pinetop, AZ.

In 2017 I started another company named Sedona Red Rock Coffee and was running both the coffee shop in Pinetop AZ and also roasting in Sedona. I sold the Pinetop Coffee House and roasting company in 2020 and moved to Sedona full time, and now I have an independent roasting company.

I have created seven (7) unique and exceptionally high-quality coffee blends, roasted to preserve the coffee’s natural antioxidants that help reduce stress, resist fatigue, and improve cognitive function.

The coffee beans are from different regions of the world, using Arabica beans from small farmers in Costa Rica, Brazil, Indonesia, Africa, and Guatemala, and Mexico. This beans are from small cooperative farms, many owned and worked by women to support their families. No pesticides are used but not all beans are certified organic.

During my roasting process the coffee is infused with the Crystalline Energy from the Vortexes and Red Rocks of Sedona

The names of the coffee represent the different areas of Sedona, the different blends are: Vortex, Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Cottonwood, Dark Sky, Verde River, and Feliz Naidid (Holiday Blend).

Today I can say I have a successful coffee roasting company in Sedona, AZ that has room for growth!!!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I moved to Sedona in December 2017 to start my coffee business, Sedona Red Rock Coffee. And as I went around attempting to sell my coffee to local businesses and coffee shops, I became aware that many had established roasters they were using and were happy with their coffee, and were not willing to change to my new coffee company. This was certainly a challenge, but this did not keep me from trying to sell my coffee to the local businesses and that meant going to farmer’s markets every weekend so that my coffee could reach the tourists and local people. That was a struggle, but now I can say I have several businesses that sell my coffee.

We’ve been impressed with Sedona Red Rock Coffee, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sedona Red Rock Coffee is known to be a one-woman-owned and operated roasting company. I specialize in fresh roasted coffee. I roast, bag, and label my own coffee beans and I have created 7 unique blends of coffee, ranging from a light-medium roast to a dark roast. I sell bags of fresh roasted coffee at Farmers Markets in Sedona and Cornville. I have Wholesale accounts with restaurants, bakeries, and retail shops.

Sedona Red Rock Coffee imports beans from varied regions of the world and then the coffee beans are locally roasted in Sedona and infused with the Crystalline energy from the red rocks of Sedona.

What sets me apart from others is that I am a single woman-owned business and I am proud that I have made a difference in the coffee industry in Sedona. People enjoy my coffee and recognize the name, Sedona Red Rock Coffee. As my business expands, my goal in 2022 is to hire someone to assist with the growth of Sedona Red Rock Coffee.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best in the City of Phoenix is that there are many choices of restaurants, movie theaters, and a wide selections of stores to shop. Even though it’s a big city there is still opportunities for small businesses to thrive. What I also like about Phoenix is that it has an International Airport that allows tourists to fly in and drive to Sedona within a few hours.

What I like least about the City of Phoenix is the heavy traffic and the summer heat.
