Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Calderon and Lindsay Diaz.

Hi Angie and Lindsay, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Desert Blooms Cart started in February 2021 as a small dream. Back in our hometown, California, we planned special themed events for friends and family. We always wanted to be in the event planning business, but this little flower cart idea sparked first.

We always loved creating centerpieces and working with flowers. There is something about flowers that just bring a sense of joy, relief, and brings so much life into one’s home and special celebrations. We are a sister duo, we both came up with an idea to start a mobile flower cart in which customers can create their own fresh flowers and build their own bouquets.

We started creating special arrangements for Valentine’s Day and we decided to ask our local Moose Lodge if we can set up a table for a few hours to sell our arrangements. We had about 10 flower boxes and when we sold the most expensive ones I remember we just looked at each other in shock!

It was so nice to see that people valued our work. Now in 2022, Desert Blooms Cart has grown and continues to develop. We have had the honor of attending various farmer markets, where we have met wonderful customers and have had so many bouquets built. These events not only give us the opportunity to sell our craft, but it gives us the opportunity to be part of a community and meet amazing people along the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, it has been a bumpy road.

There are days where you question yourself, but then you get the amazing comments from your customers and you find your motivation. Owning a business has its highs and lows and has its self-doubt moments, it’s something that we believe everyone struggles with, but with dedication and passion, it outweighs the self-doubt.

We love what Desert Blooms Cart has grown into and all the joy it has brought to our customers. Hearing their comments every time they see us makes it all worth it.

We are a mobile flower cart that specializes in making beautiful flower arrangements for your special events. We work with all kinds of budgets and make sure we give you the best of our products.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
COVID 19 has affected so many businesses, including the flower industry.

There has been a price increase and a flower shortage. With flower shortages and price increases, it has made us more conscientious of what our client is looking for and what they are willing to spend. It also has made us be more personable with our clients.

I think we have lost touch with our customer interaction with this pandemic, but these farmers’ markets have given us the opportunity to spark up conversations with people and learn people’s struggles along the way.
