AJF Inspections is a locally-loved home, commercial, and sewer line inspection company that has been serving Maricopa County and beyond since 1996. Founded in 1996 by Paul and Sharon Furman, AJF’s growing team is now led by the family’s next generation, Josh Furman and Allie Furman Jennings. AJF’s dedication to its clients and agents has always been to provide truly valuable inspection services at the highest level. Paul, a Professional Engineer (P.E.), designed AJF’s industry-leading training program and inspection process, ensuring that every AJF inspector is trained to exceed expectations.

Our mission is to Protect, Educate, and Deliver an exceptional experience, every time! We are proud to have completed over 100,000 inspections and continue to grow with unwavering commitment to customer service, training, and staying at the forefront of industry knowledge.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing any business comes with its fair share of challenges, and ours has been no different. As a home inspection company, we’re closely tied to the real estate market, so over the past 29 years, we’ve navigated multiple market cycles where some are more difficult than others. We’ve always remained committed to our core mission: to protect, educate, and deliver an exceptional customer experience. That consistency, along with transparency and a focus on our team, has helped us maintain a strong culture and continue growing—even in slower markets.

One thing we’ve learned is that change is constant. Embracing that reality and staying ahead of the curve is key to our longevity and success. We’ve always believed that by offering services that are truly valuable, we’ll continue to grow and lead. For example, we were among the first in the Phoenix market to ensure all of our inspectors were termite licensed, allowing us to offer thorough termite inspections in-house. Since our inspectors were already evaluating key areas of the home where termite activity is often found, it made sense to integrate that into our process, which enhances both quality and efficiency for our clients.

Over time, that mindset has shaped our one-stop-shop model. By offering a full suite of inspection services under one roof, we’ve eliminated the need for clients or agents to coordinate with multiple vendors. That streamlined experience, combined with our focus on quality and innovation, has allowed us to carve out a niche and remain strong no matter the market.

For example, our sewer scope division features a dedicated team using top-of-the-line RIDGID equipment to deliver high-resolution videos and detailed reports, which is far more advanced than the typical add-on service. We also offer hydro-jetting and can perform these services with or without a full home inspection. To further support agents and clients, we’ve vetted and partnered with trusted local vendors who can provide high-quality repairs quickly to equip clients with information to make informed decisions with confidence.

For business, we highly recommend Traction and the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) model. Our Leadership Team read the book together and restructured our meetings and internal framework based on its principles. EOS offers a clear, practical toolkit that helps businesses gain clarity, stay focused, and create real momentum toward growth. It’s helped us align our team, streamline operations, and solve challenges more effectively.

On a personal level, I’m currently reading The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins, which has been a powerful mindset shift. It encourages you to release what you cannot control and instead redirect that energy toward what you can control which can be helpful for various aspects in your life.
