Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Neff.
Hi Zach, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
15 years ago, I started a video media company in Peoria, IL. As a kid, I had always dreamed about the west coast but it seemed so far away.
Five years ago, I sold all of my belongings and bought an astro van in the ghetto for $3,000. I packed up all the belongings I could fit in there and headed to CA to pursue my dreams.
After realizing that CA was not for me I moved one state over to AZ. I found myself doing media in a mortgage company in which opened my eyes to mortgages and real estate. At that time, I learned servant leadership and a LOT about the real estate industry.
It took me two years from the moment I thought about getting my real estate license to actually getting it. I knew this was the career for me but I kept putting it off. After getting my license, I hit the ground running. My first year COVID hit and I made $0. Being in a similar situation in 2008 when I started my media company, I knew this was just a phase. I am now on my second year of real estate and I will be closing 5-10M this year. I have met so many incredible people both my clients and other great people in the industry. I am highly motivated to change the “old school” approach in real estate to my “new school” approach.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggles were very hard. I was in a new career, a new town, and there were a lot of VERY experienced people in real estate. I learned two things to be true. 1) Believe in yourself and 2) Be consistent!
My first year as mentioned, I made $0. My second year is another story but my first year was very difficult. I felt like I was working twice as hard for no money as I am not. It was a very big learning lesson to keep going when no one is looking.
My first listing I had the first year… was not selling during covid and I went and held an open house every single day. Those open houses to this date have helped me in year two to close over 5M from that house that didn’t sell. Crazy how that works =)

How do you think about luck?
I believe that the more consistent you are the luckier you get =) It’s all about opportunities, marketing, leverage and consistency.
