Hi Victoria, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi! My name is Victoria Taylor. I am originally from Seattle, but (thankfully) moved to Arizona during the pandemic! Everyone told me I was crazy for making such a big move at such an uncertain time, but I truly am grateful for my decision daily. Moving to Arizona has been such a beautiful experience for growth, new opportunities, and exploration in general! Growing up in a family where financial limitations were a reality; I witnessed my mother’s tireless dedication to raising me and my four sisters while managing her small business. Despite the challenges, marketing was not a priority for her due to limited funds after leaving an abusive marriage. During this time, I decided to take matters into my own hands and explore the marketing world. Driven to help my mother’s business thrive, I embarked on a journey of self-education and skill development. I dove headfirst into learning everything I could about marketing, and soon enough, I discovered my true purpose. Implementing the strategies and techniques I acquired, I was able to create substantial traction for my mother’s business and witness a remarkable growth in sales. That was the moment I knew I had found my calling.

I’ve always had a strong work ethic, working multiple jobs since I turned 16. After graduating with my first college degree at 18, I was excited to do more but needed to figure out my next move. At 18, I was determined to make my mark in the professional world, expanding from those typical “high school” jobs. I earned a promotion when I became legally eligible (18 years old) for a management position. Balancing my responsibilities at work with the need to complete my education, I enrolled in Arizona State University, where I focused on marketing and media. By the time I turned 20, I proudly graduated magna cum laude, equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Ironically enough, when I graduated from ASU online, living in Arizona was never on my mind. With my education and a passion for marketing, I embarked on a professional journey that led me to work for renowned Fortune 500 companies and innovative startups. However, deep down, I knew that my ultimate goal was to build my own business—a venture that would grant me the freedom to express my creativity and make a lasting impact on the world.

A few short years later, I moved to Arizona, which was the best decision I ever made. Moving out of my hometown has allowed me to grow in ways I’ve never imagined. Being outside of my comfort zone, learning a new area, and meeting new people is such an enlightening experience that has allowed me to flourish and grow.

I’ve been freelancing for some time now, but as mentioned have always wanted to open my own business. This past year, I finally leaped. After dealing with an unfavorable corporate work environment, I decided it was time. I am able, and I want this; I can do it- why aren’t I? That’s when Taylored was born. Taylored is a fun play on words, as my last name is Taylor, and when you work with me, your services and experience are tailored to you and your business. Taylored is here to remind me I would have never gotten here without my family, but I also would have never gotten here without my determination; my work ethic, ambition, and drive. I’ve Taylored the way for myself and am so proud of how far I’ve gotten. I would have never imagined that I would be living my dream this early in my career, and yet, there’s still so much to look forward to.

I’ve always told my friends, family, etc. “you can have anything in this world as long as you work for it”- this statement has gotten me through so much of my life and keeps me pushing on even the most challenging days. I can’t say it enough because it’s just so true. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me and Taylored!

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve had some obstacles and challenges along the way. Being in a new state and opening up a business with a limited local support system is daunting. It took a lot of sleepless nights, lots of tears, lots of motivating myself. There were some very long days. Confidence in doing this was my biggest issue, which largely stemmed from the corporate work environment I was in before. However, with each call I had, I kept reminding myself why I was doing this. Once I signed on to a few clients, I knew my determination had paid off. Within 3 months of starting my business, I replaced my salary income and it was game over.

What do you think about happiness?
It sounds so cliché, but seeing my clients succeed in their business goals is my greatest satisfaction! Knowing how much marketing can change one’s life and business from my own experience, it is amazing to help someone else’s life and business change because of your work. I once helped a business go from 5 figures in the red during COVID to 6 figures in the green in under 6 months! It’s wonderful to know you’re the reason someone can put food on their family’s table tonight or that someone’s dream will come true because of the heights you’ve taken them to!
