Exploring Life & Business with Tiffany Wheeler of Dun Giddit Tack N Finds LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Wheeler.

Hi Tiffany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My parents owned a 30 horse show barn in WA state when I was a kid. I started riding horses at the age of 9 and fell in love with everything about it. As a kid, I rode, showed and trained horses. I knew that I wanted to do something with horses when I grew up. At 13, my parents moved here to Arizona where I slowly fell out of horses as they weren’t in my back yard anymore and I wasn’t able to see them as often as I use to. I had my first child at the age of 20 and made the difficult decision to sell my horses and get out of riding completely.

In 2021, my husband and I decided to buy a horse so I could get back into riding and he could learn. Having a horse again made me realize that horses were, are and always will be my passion! When we went shopping for saddles and all the fun stuff that comes with horses, I was reminded that having a horse and riding weren’t my favorite part. Shopping for anything horse related was! I loved putting together my own ensemble of color coordinated grooming supplies with matching halters, lead ropes, saddle pads and tack. There’s so many options to choose from and there were even more choices that came out in the 20 years I missed out on.

I no longer felt like I belonged in an office working 9-5 with 2 days a week off, if I was lucky, and limited salary. I knew I wanted to leave my job and create something of my own. I knew I wanted it to be in the equine industry but I wasn’t quite sure how. I started a side hustle of finding saddles and used tack that were being sold under value and cleaning them up to resell. I did research on what people were looking for, how accessible the items were and what the valley had to offer. I quickly realized that there was not many tack shops within the valley, they were on the outskirts and they didn’t carry much of a selection of what people were looking for. I also noticed pretty quickly that what people wanted wasn’t easily accessible.

What started as a hope and a dream became a reality in 2024 when I decided to leave corporate America to take a chance and start an actual business. Inspired by my heart horse, Riggs, a beautiful Dun Quarter Horse gelding, Dun Giddit Tack N Finds LLC was born.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think anyone who starts a business on their own has a smooth road. I honestly don’t know how some people work a full time corporate America job and start a successful business. I struggled a lot (and still do) with being a full time mom and wife, helping my husband with his business and fulfilling all of the typical life requirements. Money is another obstacle. To start a retail business, you have to have capital to start. If not, you’ll quickly go into debt. So, patience is definitely a virtue!

We’ve been impressed with Dun Giddit Tack N Finds LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dun Giddit Tack N Finds was founded on the idea that owning horses doesn’t have to be so expensive and saddles and tack should not be so hard to find. We take every opportunity to keep our prices competitive. We offer consignment done easy with no hassle, no hidden fees and customizable terms. We understand that life is busy and the average horse lover has dozens of other obligations and can’t always make store hours. We might not have regular shopping hours, but we are flexible with our availability. By offering appointments, we have more flexibility than a brick and mortar. There are many options between shipping and delivery to make it easier to buy the merchandise people desire most!

We sell on site, online, on marketplaces and events. We have a 16′ cargo trailer filled with horse necessities, accessories and desirables that we take around to different events across the valley. We have English tack and apparel, western tack, western casual apparel and show apparel as well as western decor. We also offer shopping in our trailer at the barn where we board our horses, by appointment only.

Our slogan is, “You need it, we’ll Dun Giddit!”.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I had a good childhood. My most memorable times were living in WA state when my parents owned the 30 horse show barn. What preteen girl wouldn’t enjoy living on over 10 acres with horses and pastures? I had two horses, Tuesday and Tracy, whom I rode, helped train and showed. My favorite thing to do was to get on Tuesday with nothing but a halter and lead rope and gallop bareback through the pastures. I could literally do anything with her and trusted her completely!
