Exploring Life & Business with Sydney Carstens of Golden Coast Kouture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Carstens.

Hi Sydney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I graduated college from the University of Iowa in December then moved to Arizona! Throughout college, I was always the girl that had the unique closet so my friends would come to me when they wanted something to wear. I grew up always loving fashion from a young age. In my senior year of college, I was inspired by my friends and family to start my online store since they always loved my fashion taste. I always wanted to create my online store but never had the time.

I finally decided to start Golden Coast Kouture in March of 2022. I started out selling trendy bodysuits, tops, pants, etc, for women. But then I started wanting to incorporate more loungewear trendy pieces and I got way more orders than expected. I rebranded and switched to all loungewear and that’s what I am selling now. I like to incorporate unisex pieces as well. I started also posting more mental health sayings on crews and hoodies which have always been important to me especially in the world we live in and me studying to be a mental health counselor.

I started doing customs and making designs for people which has gained me lots of attention such as game day designs and any designs my customers want. Now, I am wanting to create my loungewear line and will be working with manufacturers in the future. Little by little growing and trying a bunch of new things to see what works best for me and my business!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Creating a business is a long and lonely process. It takes failure and things not always working out in your favor to succeed and find what people want to see. I have had many days of self-doubt, but I always remember to keep going and I find the most motivation when I see my customers loving and sharing the items they received.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Golden Coast Kouture LLC?
I create all sorts of apparel designs and take customs for people! In the future, I want to be known for the softest and trendiest loungewear that people obsess over. I think my store is different from others because I carry unisex pieces, not just pieces for women. I also can make customs and make designs people want coming to life, as well as being a female-owned business.

I am proud of how much Golden Coast Kouture has grown and I am super excited to see it continue to grow in the future. I want to build my brand and inspire others to never stop going after what they want. YOU CAN do anything you want to in this world, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t!

What’s next?
My plans for the future are to create my loungewear line by working with great manufacturers that can make my sketches from paper become a reality for both men and women!
