Meet Steve Serda of Arid Valley Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Serda.

Hi Steve, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A lifetime of interest in how things work culminated in forming Arid Valley Services in 2018. I spent the previous 15 years working in the bicycle industry, where I honed my mechanical ability and expanded my troubleshooting skills. I pride myself on focusing on my client’s satisfaction and the ability to deliver as promised. I’m an avid cyclist that loves just about anything outdoors.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My first venture into business ownership really helped form my expectations for starting a new entity. It was also helpful that my finances allowed the flexibility for the business to grow organically without being forced into a particular direction. I wanted the flexibility to choose alternative paths as they come available. It was the main deciding factor in using “services” in our name. Being a very generic term that applied well in many environments, it’s what we used.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Arid Valley Services?
As a commercial and residential handyman outfit, we help fill the void that’s left when a job is too small for a general contractor. We offer straightforward solutions to your everyday issues. Our team is willing and capable of helping diagnose and repair any systems around your home or office. Our team of technicians has been trained to be able to offer both repair or replacement, unlike our competition that resolves issues with equipment. From inside to outside, we’ve got it covered, and when we don’t, we know who to call! Quick response times and same-day service are one of our many specialties!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Time being the most valuable resource, learning what to focus your time and energy on is key. Business ownership comes with many challenges but most, if not all, can be met and conquered with the appropriate strategy and planning. Second to time is making sure your available cash flows and reserves will meet your needs. I have found that having 2-4% of your annual gross sales available as cash float helps create a healthy and successful environment to succeed. Like they say- it takes money to make money and I think it applies well here.
