Today we’d like to introduce you to Steffan Stewart.
Hi Steffan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I always had this drive to create—whether it was drawing, sculpting, or just dreaming up big ideas. After studying design in college, I started my career working for various agencies, learning the ropes of branding, strategy, and creative execution. But something was missing. I wanted more creative freedom and the ability to choose who I worked with and what projects I poured my energy into.
So in 2017, I took the leap and started freelancing full-time. It was a scary but exciting move that laid the foundation for what was to come. In 2018, I partnered with my good friend Colton Barry, and together, we started our branding and creative agency BRIDGE, and have since grown it into one of the top branding agencies in Phoenix. Along the way, we’ve built an amazing team, worked with incredible clients, and stayed true to our mission of creating work that genuinely connects with people and stands the test of time.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely been a bumpy ride! Starting a business comes with a mix of uncertainty, long hours, and tough decisions. In the early days, there was a lot of trial and error—figuring out how to pitch clients, managing cash flow, and learning how to balance creative passion with running a business. The 2020 pandemic brought its own challenges, as we had to pivot and find ways to adapt to a rapidly changing landscape.
There’s also the personal growth that comes with building something from the ground up—learning to trust your gut, dealing with imposter syndrome, and staying motivated during tough times. But each struggle taught me something valuable, and honestly, the wins feel even more rewarding because of them.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about BRIDGE?
BRIDGE is all about building brands that resonate deeply and authentically. We specialize in branding, website design, and all the creative touchpoints that bring a business to life—whether it’s packaging design, crafting killer animations, or building seamless digital experiences. What sets us apart is our collaborative approach. We don’t just see our clients as clients; we see them as partners. We dive deep into their stories, uncovering what makes them unique, and create work that feels intentional and foundational to their success.
I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done for a wide range of clients, from startups to internationally recognized brands. One standout project was the 15th-anniversary branding for Phoenix Design Week, where we captured the spirit of unity and creativity that defines Arizona’s design community. Another is our ongoing partnership with Optty, where we’re not just building their brand but working alongside them as they revolutionize the global payment landscape. Optty has grown to be more than just a client—they’ve become great friends. It’s been inspiring to collaborate on a shared vision that promotes inclusivity and innovation.
No matter the size or scope of a project, our goal is always the same: to create exceptional, thoughtful work that leaves a lasting impact and helps businesses thrive. We’re passionate about what we do and love working with people who share that same energy.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was the kid who couldn’t sit still. I played a ton of soccer and basketball, collected trading cards, and spent way too much time playing video games. I was definitely the class clown, always cracking jokes and goofing off, but I balanced it with a strong work ethic. I’ve always been someone who dives headfirst into things I’m passionate about, and take it to the highest level of competition. Those same traits have followed me into adulthood—I still love having fun, working hard, and finding new ways to push myself creatively, but never lose touch with my competitive drive.
