Exploring Life & Business with Shannon Dixon of Pain Into Purpose LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Dixon.

Hi Shannon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From typical life difficulties to more traumatic experiences such as being a victim of sexual assault to dealing with my brother’s murder at a young age, I’ve had my share of pain. As an adult, I started headed down the wrong path and had gotten into some legal trouble. I realized I was carrying so much pain and had to turn it into something positive. I got into therapy and took classes to work in behavioral health, and throughout that process, Pain Into Purpose was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I consider myself shy, so the most challenging part was having to network and speak about my brand to get it out there. Another struggle was to stay consistent! Running a business is so different than clocking in.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
It’s a clothing brand reminding people that our adversities only improve us. There are two different collections. “Pain enter purpose “design is an arrow that means when pain and difficulties pull you back; you are being launched into greater. I also have the “Out the mud” collection, a lotus flower design symbolizing how like the lotus flower, people grow out of the mud into something beautiful. I’m known for t-shirt designs and what sets me apart is that my actual life inspires these designs I come up with. I want people to know that where you start doesn’t dictate where you end.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Find someone who’s done/ is doing it that is willing to listen, give you advice, and tell you their process so that you can find your footing. Networking on social media to find other entrepreneurs and business owners has been beneficial. I’ve just had to step out of my comfort zone and believe in myself. Being a vendor at my first pop-up shop in 2021 was The first step to me stepping out of my comfort zone.
