Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Edwards.
Hi Samantha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my art journey late 2018 by a series of chance and luck. I started spending the majority of my days at the Barnes and Noble book store in Chandler, AZ and after reading all the poetry I could handle I found myself in the art section. It took no time at all for me to switch from reading to sketching, then to watercolor, and eventually to acrylic painting right there in the Barnes and Noble Starbucks area. After about a month of practicing and a stack of finished paintings later I started drawing a crowd. (pun-intended) When I started getting offers to buy my completed works I made the decision right then and there that a career in art (which I had not long before imagined impossible) was something well within my reach. From then on I was creating an art piece a day and have been doing so since. A year later I was featured in the Chocolate and Art Show, RawArtShowcase Stellar, and RawArtShowcase Premiere events, and got a copyright in 2019 for my pool felt canvas design “Savage Meets Simonis”.
Since then I have been lucky enough to do an acrylic mural at the Tempe Tavern as well as a pyrography mural there too.
I am currently filling commissioned orders (oil, acrylic, and watercolor) and actively looking for any mural gigs!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been far from smooth, but if I have learned anything about myself and my art career I’ve learned that I am my own biggest obstacle. Keeping faith in the process and keeping the creative inside me inspired is really the only thing that matters when it comes to being successful. No matter what, If I’ve put my heart into a piece, there will be someone who sees it and wants to have me work for them!
We’ve been impressed with SavageArtShow, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am currently taking commissioned orders (oil, acrylic, and watercolor)
I believe what sets me apart from others is my ability to really touch my customer base directly and to produce a custom pieces that satisfy them completely and make them feel like I really understand what they were looking for.
I am ‘known’ for turning used pool table felt into a canvas and doing custom billiard related art for all the hard core billiard players in the area.
When it comes to my brand, I think I am most proud of my ability to create and run my business from scratch simply through trial and error and a determination to succeed no matter what. From the creation of my website, to my ability to be flexible during covid and turning my business to an online platform (twitch.tv/savageartshow) and being able to now, post-covid, to still be able to say I am a full time working artist.
As for the readers, I’d just like them to know that custom or original artworks are available for an affordable price whenever they find themselves interested, and I am eager to expand my customer base where ever and whenever possible!
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me, hands-down, is my ability to connect with genuine art lovers and make something beautiful and lasting that brings a little bit more beauty to life.
