Patricia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Kindness Evolves provides caregiver services to individuals in communities throughout Arizona that are receiving services from Arizona Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) including: Habilitation, Attendant Care, and Respite. Our leadership team is comprised of industry experts from different fields who work together to make Kindness Evolves what it is. Our team is dedicated to the Kindness Evolves Family and creating incredible experiences for our members driven by our own experiences as caregivers, members and providers. I am the owner and entered this business because I am also a parent of a disabled adult and have had the need for consistent caregivers for the past 37 years and have not be able to find an agency that truly cares about the members and advocates for their needs. I struggled to find consistent care During Covid our community was hit very hard by losing the in home care they need to function in day to day life. I knew there was a better way to bring care providers into this industry. We provide unique training programs and recruit many people outside the industry. Once you share what a care providers role is and how rewarding the career is many people dive straight into the training and them are matched with people needing assistance.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A huge challenge is public awareness for the need for care providers for the disabled. Many people are not even aware of this type of position and theref0re do not seek out jobs providing care. Although the provider role is very rewarding they pay scale is limited based on the State budget for services. Therefore,staying competitive in the workforce is difficult.

Another challenge is identifying people with disabilities that are in need of care. Once we meet a family in need it is surprising that they are unaware of the amazing services the State of Arizona Department of Developmental Disabilities has to offer their family.
