Exploring Life & Business with Nicole Pinkerton of Nicole’s Academic Writing Tutoring Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Pinkerton.

Hi Nicole, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I never liked school as a teenager. I didn’t do well in school in middle school and high school. I always felt like I couldn’t keep up or things were just too hard for me. I also developed Epilepsy in high school, which made things harder. My seizures got in the way of life. I wanted to drive and I couldn’t. I wanted to learn and I felt like I couldn’t. When I reached adulthood I got help with my Epilepsy. I went to one of the best hospitals in Phoenix. They ran a bunch of tests on me. Eventually I had brain surgery. After the surgery I was fine. Then I still had seizures, but not as frequently. Today I don’t have anymore seizures with the help of medication and the surgery. After overcoming my obstacle with Epilepsy, I wanted to get an Associate’s degree. I got my Associate’s in Paralegal Studies. I got my first job at a law firm doing file clerk work. Then eventually I moved on to be a Legal Assistant at another firm. Then I wanted a Bachelor’s degree. I went and applied at Northern Arizona University for their 90-30 program in Justice Studies with an emphasis in Criminal Justice Administration. Right after when I was done with my bachelor’s program, I applied again at NAU to their Master’s program in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Criminal Justice Administration. I eventually became a Substitute Teacher, because I liked education so much. I wanted to help kids with their education. I am going to school now to become a secondary teacher. I want to become a 6th grade teacher. I also got an idea while I was a substitute teacher that I should tutor on the side. Since I had all this education, and I wrote so many papers that I could possibly help others in college or high school with their papers. I have had clients who just graduated high school and are just going off to college. They just want to learn how to write essays right before they enter college. I love tutoring as its my passion to write essays. I eventually want to become a Professor. I also help K-12 kids with writing, reading, punctuation, and handwriting. I have helped students with their reading. I am happy where I am at today. I feel thankful that I am seizure free, that I am learning to become a teacher, and that I have a tutoring business.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My struggles have been medical conditions along the way. I am so grateful I have overcame them.
