Today we’d like to introduce you to Nazblith Aniles.
Nazblith, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am originally from a small town in Mexico called San Luis Rio Colorado Sonora. I was raised in a very strict and traditional environment where our culture limited women to become independent let alone a business owner. Ever since I was a young child, I dreamed about becoming a business owner but wasn’t sure what type of business I wanted open. I thought about becoming a fashion designer and a plastic surgeon; however, I knew those two careers were not meant for someone like me that couldn’t deal with blood or fabrics. While in school in Mexico, I was named the school’s treasurer and academically represented my school locally and state level. Throughout all my school years, I was always the number one student in the three main subjects; Mathematics, Sciences, and Language. Nonetheless, my whole world shook when my parents told me we were moving to the United States.
I moved to the United States when I was 16 years old and it was not an easy transition. I had to start all over again and learn a new language. I soon discovered that the easiest way to learn a new language was to expose myself to the language. When started college, I applied for several call center positions and never got hired, I was once advised by one of my interviewers that the reason why I didn’t get an offer was because of my English accent. I felt discriminated against and felt disappointed of myself. I started to take additional English classes and decided to apply for a “work-study ” job at my community college. I worked in the Financial Aid Department and this position helped me gain confidence in the financial industry. At that point, I knew I wanted to be in business.
After graduation, I moved to Phoenix Arizona to start my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration and Finance. Soon after I received my Bachelor’s degree, I found out that having a degree was not going to make my job-hunting process any easier. I was only 23 years old when I received both, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. Unfortunately, I was too young and unexperienced to get myself an executive-level job. Someone advised me to apply for a receptionist job at a local insurance agency, which was way under my education level; nonetheless, I needed a job. After my job interview, I did further research on the insurance industry and found out that it was an easy job and no major education was required. I immediately applied for licenses and two weeks later, I was licensed to do insurance in the state of Arizona. After my research, I concluded, that I was going to gain experience in the industry to, later on, become an insurance business owner in hopes to accumulate the financial resources needed to someday open a business in the beauty industry.
I worked in the insurance industry for several amazing leaders and also worked for others that discriminated me due to my English Accent, it was not an easy process and certainly, my degrees meant nothing in this industry but that was not going to stop me in making my dream come true and becoming a business owner. Despite all the different circumstances, where I was told that I was not going to make it in the business world because of my accent, I persisted. Not only did I proved myself, that coming from a different country or having a different accent doesn’t make me any less successful than anyone who doesn’t, but I also proved myself that the path to becoming a great leader in your industry is through, dedication, motivation, hardwork, and education. I now own two different types of businesses, one in the finance industry that has taught me a lot and recently opened the business that aligns with what has always been my passion, beauty.

Not at all. As a business owner, you continue to learn new things each day. For me, the most difficult aspects of getting to where I am at now were discrimination due to age and language.
