Exploring Life & Business with Natalia Carnevale of A Typ A Gal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalia Carnevale.

Natalia Carnevale

Hi Natalia, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am a wanderlust spirit who loves to create and nurture. Whether it’s children or animals that I have come across that need help, I am typically the first to lend a hand. Fast forward a bit to when I had my son. I was working long days and doing the best I could to find classes/community to meet his needs. The efforts that went into nurturing our love for nature at home were unmatched in the community. I continued to search, and it wasn’t until my daughter that I had the idea to ACT on my desire to create something of my own. Combining my professional experience of working with unique learners and motherhood, I soon realized ALL children need better access to nature-based learning. Through a strong desire to maintain an environment where a community could feel connected while learning topics that may be one day lost, I have created A Typ A Gal. While many of our topics are atypical in nature, they felt incredibly typical to my lifestyle. Thus, a typical gal nurturing learning in atypical ways was created.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think there are parts of this journey that have been incredibly smooth! Staying true to my niche has been the easiest lesson for me. I truly love what I do despite the bumps. The area I struggle the most would be recognizing when to grow and when to stabilize. Remembering that I cannot help everyone was DIFFICULT, especially being a nurturing person. Nonetheless, this has led to meeting incredibly people that have strengths in areas that I may not have. The smallest of lessons may have the greatest impact.

We’ve been impressed with A Typ A Gal, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A Typ A Gal is known for nurturing through nature. We utilize our knowledge and love for nature to teach the FUNdamentals of learning. Whether it’s survival skills, social-emotional learning, or service-learning opportunities, we strive to facilitate opportunities that have everyday life applications; what sets us apart is that this is my lifestyle. This is not something that I clock in and out from. My family and I spend the majority of our time learning about the world through hands-on opportunities. Utilizing my professional and personal experience, I am able to provide inclusive learning for unique learners as well.

A Typ A Gal nurtures the entire family! We run an integration model, which means parents are able to learn alongside their children or take their own classes. We try to host classes for multiple age groups at the same location to ensure families can independently learn skills while having

the opportunity to collaborate together.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My ideas came YEARS before my execution. At the beginning I rarely told anyone my ideas. I quickly learned that it’s difficult for individuals to see what they don’t understand. Don’t worry if this is also your situation. I pulled from my previous experiences from jobs. What did I like? What didn’t I like? Which are negotiable? Which will be non-negotiable?

I didn’t want to be guided by individuals that were short-sighted. I knew this wasn’t an unreasonable expectation because I quickly learned there were individuals out there that had unique ideas of their own that were also pioneers of their industry.

If you are crunched on time as you get started, Podcasts were a major asset to me in the beginning! As time went on and I became more certain with my vision with unwavering faith, I would take classes. From there, my network grew.
