Exploring Life & Business with Mindi Boysen of THE CLUB at Fit For Golf! Fit For Life!

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mindi Boysen.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My Story
I grew up in rural Western Pennsylvania in a family of teachers, so it was natural to start my career in Early Childhood Development. I spent four years teaching first and third grade in the public school system in both inner-city Norfolk, VA, and the ranch country of Houston, TX. In the evenings, I taught aerobics classes (now called group fitness) at local gyms—staying active and earning extra income.

My husband’s (at the time) job transfer took me to Indianapolis, where I couldn’t find a teaching position, so I pivoted into managing a sports club. I learned business on the fly and even became an Associate Professor in the Strength & Conditioning department at IUPUI. It was the perfect blend of fitness and education.

In my late twenties, I dabbled in NPC Bodybuilding and Ms. Fitness competitions, drawing on my college background in dance. I competed in seven shows, reaching the national level and gained valuable lessons in discipline, aesthetics, and performance. But I realized that a long-term fitness career needed more substance than just stage presence.
That’s when I discovered Stott Pilates. I drove to Chicago on weekends for certification, and it changed everything. It was eye-opening for me personally – having had hyper-mobility from gymnastics and structural Scoliosis all my life. Learning about posture, pain relief, and longevity sparked my vision: Pilates for Golfers. Unfortunately, 1990s Indianapolis wasn’t quite ready for that -niche.

So in 2002, I packed up and moved to sunny Arizona at age 32—single, optimistic, and determined. I began teaching golf fitness and Pilates at Tatum Ranch Golf Club, Terravita Country Club, and The Sanctuary Spa in Paradise Valley. Being my own boss, creating new services at private clubs, and embracing the Arizona lifestyle felt like home instantly.

Over the years, I created the Fit For Golf DVD series, authored the book -Synergistic Golf, earned multiple Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), Golf Digest, Gray Institute certifications, and became the Official Fitness Partner for the Arizona Women’s Golf Association. I held driving range clinics, gave talks at country clubs, and loved the thrill of cold-calling clubs and introducing new services.
After experimenting with a mobile app (and learning firsthand how tech glitches can derail a good idea!), I created something simpler and more effective: The Front Nine Series. This is a collection of nine 15-minute video workouts—each one themed for a “hole” on the golf course and filmed against beautiful Scottsdale golf backdrops. Each video features my top 10 exercises for that focus area, whether it’s hip mobility, balance, core strength, or sequencing. Golfers can start with a free Pre-Round Functional Routine, and then purchase the full series for $250 or buy individual videos for $35 each. It’s simple, accessible, and designed for real golfers who want to move better and play better.

I’ve also been the official Fitness Partner and Presenter for Golf America on Fox Sports for over 21 years. Many of my golf-specific training videos can be found—free of charge—on our YouTube channel, so golfers everywhere can access trusted, effective content anytime.

I spent a decade at Estancia Golf Club in Scottsdale, building community, writing newsletters, and even playing in member-guest tournaments. But when COVID hit, the private club model shifted. Clubs wanted rent and payroll agreements—something that didn’t fit my independent model.

So I pivoted again.

THE CLUB at Fit For Golf! Fit For Life! was born—a boutique golf performance and recovery studio at the base of Pinnacle Peak. With help from my now-husband (we’re getting married on my birthday, July 10th!), I learned how to handle permits, contracts, and construction. He found the space, and the Titleist Performance Institute helped furnish it by awarding me the “Chance at the Best” honor, including a shipment of Life Fitness equipment to get started.

THE CLUB just wrapped its third season! We call our coaches Caddies—each with unique strengths, all working together to support our Portfolio members in mind, body, and movement. Whether they are training for power, polishing your swing, or recovering after play, we make sure everyone feels at home.

Our community-first, science-based approach focuses on longevity, performance, and total well-being. We serve all ages and levels, and yes—you’ll likely be greeted by Bunker, our English Bulldog and club mascot.

Recently, I was honored to be named one of Golf Digest’s Top 50 Trainers in America for the second time (2022–2026) and continue to speak at industry events nationwide.

This journey hasn’t been without struggle. There were long stretches when I couldn’t see the light—personally and professionally. But I stayed faithful. I wrote in journals, prayed, did the work, and held on. Today, I have a thriving business (still with its ups and downs), a wonderful very-new marriage, and a life I truly love.

My advice? Don’t give up. Take deep breaths. Life rarely moves on your timeline, but keep showing up with a good heart. Treat others well. Learn from the hard stuff. And know that the best chapters often start after the darkest pages.

Phoenix has been my home for 23 years now. My family may be back East, but the community I’ve built here feels like family too—and I don’t plan on going anywhere.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road. There were years when I felt like I was doing everything alone. I didn’t have a partner, I didn’t own a home, and I watched others seem to find stability in relationships, careers, and friendships—while I felt like I was constantly reinventing myself just to stay afloat. I went through painful breakups, health scares, financial uncertainty, and more than a few moments of, “Am I really cut out for this?”

On top of that, it was hard to find friendships that truly understood the season of life I was in. I wasn’t raising a family or working a traditional 9-to-5. I was chasing a vision, building a business, showing up for clients, and trying to stay resilient through the unknowns. That can feel isolating.

But those hard seasons taught me how to self-reflect, stay grounded, and truly trust the process. I leaned into my faith, sought counseling when I needed it, journaled a lot, and tried to find meaning even when the path ahead was foggy.

There were many times when I was stuck in the tunnel—unable to see the light. But I never stopped believing there was light. Eventually, I found my rhythm. The right people showed up. I found love. My vision came into focus. And all those years of doing the inner work started to make sense.

The struggles shaped me more than the successes ever could. And now, I’m more grounded, more grateful, and more connected—to myself and to the people around me—because of it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about THE CLUB at Fit For Golf! Fit For Life!?
Welcome to THE CLUB at Fit For Golf! Fit For Life!—a one-of-a-kind performance and recovery studio located at the base of Pinnacle Peak in North Scottsdale. We’re not your average gym. We’re not a country club. We’re something completely different: a boutique, science-based golf performance center where you are the athlete—and we are your team of expert caddies.

We specialize in helping golfers of all ages and abilities move better, feel better, and play better. Whether you’re chasing distance, coming back from injury, or simply want to keep playing the game you love for decades to come—this is your place.

What Makes Us Different?
At THE CLUB, we’ve created an elevated, personal experience that blends fitness, recovery, and technology. We’re not a one-size-fits-all program. Our Portfolio Members receive customized care from a curated team of the best in the business—what we call our CADDIES.

Each Caddie has a specialty. I lead the team with a background in strength, mobility, biomechanics, and 9 advanced Titleist Performance Institute certifications. We are honored to include Ron Gring, a Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor with a Lifetime Achievement Award, as our Director of Instruction. Our recovery and strength coaches are all hand-picked professionals who know how to speak golf and speak body.

Inside THE CLUB
Our space is 2,000 square feet of purpose. We’ve carefully designed it with three distinct zones:

1. The Performance Studio
This is where we build strength, speed, balance, and power through customized golf fitness programs. Whether you’re training for your best season yet or just starting out, this is where the gains happen.

2. THE RANGE
Come in and swing in the air conditioning (yes, even in July!). Use our Foresight Sports simulator with GC Quad, high-speed cameras, and data-driven tools to analyze, train, or just have fun. You can come in with a Caddie, or just drop in solo to hit balls, work on drills, or escape the heat.

3. THE CART BARN
In traditional golf clubs, this is where carts go to recharge. At THE CLUB, it’s where you do. We offer state-of-the-art recovery services, including:

Red light therapy

Infrared sauna blankets

PEMF mats

Manual bodywork

TENS/NMES stimulation

Our newest game-changer: the Shiftwave Chair

The Shiftwave is a rare and powerful nervous system reset tool. It uses acoustical and vibrational waves in a zero-gravity chair to help regulate stress, aid recovery, and enhance athletic performance. With over 60 protocols, we can help you upshift or downshift based on your goals—whether it’s post-round recovery or mental clarity before a tournament.

The Little Things Matter
We love creating a space that feels like home. That’s why you’ll find free protein balls in the fridge, electrolyte packets on the counter, and cold waters waiting for you post-workout. Our members are encouraged to lounge, laugh, and stay a while. This is a community, not a cookie-cutter gym.

We also offer private events, educational workshops, junior programs, and one-on-one coaching across multiple disciplines.

What We’re Most Proud Of
Our people. Our culture. And our commitment to your longevity—on and off the course.

We’re proud to have been recognized by Golf Digest as one of the Top 50 Golf Fitness Trainers in America. We’re proud to be partnered with the Titleist Performance Institute. But most of all, we’re proud when our clients tell us they feel stronger, swing better, and enjoy life more.

Whether you’re a pro, a passionate amateur, or just trying to keep up with your buddies, THE CLUB is here to support you. Come in, take a swing, sit in the Shiftwave, and have a protein ball. Let’s start your next chapter—together.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is helping people of all ages feel good about themselves—physically, mentally, and emotionally. I believe that movement is medicine, and when we move better, we live better. But it goes beyond reps, sets, or a perfect swing. It’s about creating a space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered—because you never really know what someone is carrying inside.

What we see on the outside doesn’t always reflect the battles someone is facing on the inside. Every person who walks into THE CLUB has a story. They may be recovering from surgery, heartbreak, burnout, or a confidence crisis. They might be thriving—or barely holding it together. But they show up. And it’s an honor to be a small part of their journey.

I want people to leave here not just stronger or more mobile, but more whole. I want them to feel proud of their effort, more confident in their body, and more hopeful about what’s ahead. That’s why I do what I do.

To me, success isn’t about winning trophies or building muscle. It’s about helping people rediscover joy, reclaim their health, and feel like their best self—at any age or stage.

That’s what matters most.
