Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Rasmussen.
Hi Mia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My Story:
Growing up, I was an active tomboy, playing every sport I could—softball, track and field—until college. During that time, I struggled with injuries, eventually suffering a career-ending knee injury. As a female athlete, I was taught from a young age that being lean—or even extremely skinny—meant you were a “good” athlete. This mindset shaped my relationship with food.
In high school and early college, I developed an eating disorder. I restricted foods I labeled as “bad” and punished myself through over-exercising whenever I strayed. During the peak of this struggle, I was also competing as an Olympic weightlifter, doing CrossFit, finishing school, and stepping into the world of fitness and nutrition as a coach.
Eventually, I reached a breaking point and sought help. I realized I couldn’t lead my clients and athletes effectively if I wasn’t also addressing the same challenges they faced.
After years of experience in various health and fitness environments, I decided to start my own nutrition business. My mission is to help athletes and high-performing professionals understand the direct impact nutrition has on performance, longevity, and overall well-being. My goal is to teach people to train and fuel their bodies for life, focusing on strength and resilience—not just skinniness.
As you know, we’re big fans of MCR Nutrition & Fitness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I help athletes and high-performing professionals optimize their performance, health, and longevity through individualized nutrition and training strategies. I specialize in performance-based nutrition coaching, strength and conditioning guidance, and habit-based lifestyle support—designed for people who want to fuel their bodies for life, not just for a number on the scale. I do not promote quick fixes. I strive to teach people the importance of nutrition. My goal is for anyone who works with me to step away with the education to do it on their own.
What sets us apart is our approach. I don’t just hand out meal plans or workouts—we focus on the full picture: mindset, lifestyle, recovery, and the science behind how nutrition directly impacts strength, energy, and recovery. Our approach is rooted in real-world experience: I’ve personally been an athlete, coach, and nutrition professional, and I’ve worked with clients through every challenge—injury, performance plateaus, and disordered relationships with food—so I understand what it really takes to make lasting change.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is creating a message that resonates: Strong, Not Skinny. MCR Nutrition & Fitness isn’t about chasing trends or restrictive diets; it’s about helping people build strength, confidence, and long-term health. Whether you’re an athlete striving to achieve a higher level in your performance, a professional balancing a demanding career, or someone ready to rewrite your relationship with food, we provide tools, support, and expertise to help you thrive.
I want readers to know that MCR Nutrition & Fitness is a space for people who want to train smarter, fuel better, and live stronger—without compromise. Your goals are our blueprint, and your performance, recovery, and well-being are the priority.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Man! I have taken risks my whole life and I’m a big believer in them! I wouldn’t be running my own buisness if I didnt. For example 2.5 years ago I decided to leave a toxic work envirement and start my own thing my way! Taking charge of your health and fitness can also feel like a risk sometimes. Its an investment. It can be a scary place when youre first starting and seeking help; especially in the world we live in where you can turn to your phone and hear a never ending list of opinions from people that 99% of the time don’t know what they are talking about.
