Today we’d like to introduce you to Mandy Walker.
Mandy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always felt like I got my lucky break early in my career. I joined a company that was on a fast track for growth – not just in size, but in how seriously it invested in marketing. I was young, hungry to prove myself, and willing to learn everything I could. Over the years, that drive paid off – I eventually led a 25-person marketing department, grew a vibrant community of over 300,000 professionals, and helped the company scale from $50M to $750M.
That experience shaped so much of who I am as a leader. It’s where I discovered my passion for marketing leadership and mentorship, and my love for operational excellence and marketing transformation. I learned how to build high-performing teams, create clarity in complex situations, and align marketing strategy with the bigger business picture.
After that chapter, I expanded my experience across a few different industries – data, AI and SaaS – eventually stepping into the world of fractional work. Today, I serve as a Fractional CMO for several clients, but my real passion is coaching and mentoring other female marketing leaders who want to elevate their careers, strengthen their strategic voice, and confidently step into the executive seat.
That’s what led me to start Growth Activated – a space where I can combine everything I’ve learned in my own journey with the tools and support I wish I’d had along the way. For me, it’s not just about building better marketers – it’s about helping women lead with confidence, make a bigger impact, and love the career they’ve built.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly hasn’t been without its challenges, but I’ve always been a driven, optimistic problem-solver. Even when I’ve hit bumps in the road, I tend to see them less as roadblocks and more as puzzles to solve.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced – and still encounter at every new stage of growth – is imposter syndrome. It’s that voice that asks, Why me? What makes me qualified to coach others, lead a team, or sit in the executive seat? I think this is something a lot of women, especially in leadership, can relate to. I’m a naturally confident person, but that little voice still pops up at pivotal moments when I’m stepping into something bigger.
The best way I’ve learned to quiet it is to connect with people who are already in the roles I aspire to – whether that’s through conversations, mentorship, or even podcasts. Learning from them not only helps me understand the language, skills, and mindset needed to level up, but it also reminds me that the gap between where I am and where I want to be is often smaller than I think. And when I see that clearly, my thought becomes, Why not me?
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Growth Activated exists to raise up the next generation of female marketing executives. My mission is simple but ambitious: to see more women in the CMO seat, in the boardroom, and shaping the strategic direction of companies. I believe businesses, economies, and entire industries rise when more diverse voices are at the table – and I want my clients to be those voices.
I work primarily with B2B marketing leaders at the Director and VP level who are ready to take the leap into executive leadership. They’re already skilled marketers, but they want to sharpen their strategic thinking, strengthen their executive presence, and confidently navigate the dynamics of the C-suite. Through one-on-one leadership and executive coaching, group masterminds, and marketing team trainings and workshops, I give them the tools, strategies, and confidence to thrive at the next level.
What sets Growth Activated apart is that it’s grounded in real-world executive experience. I’ve led teams of 25+, scaled companies from $50M to $750M, doubled ARR for a SaaS startup, and built communities of hundreds of thousands of professionals. I’ve lived the challenges my clients face, and I coach from that lived experience – pairing proven strategies with a deep understanding of what it truly takes to lead.
At its heart, Growth Activated is about more than career advancement – it’s about creating a ripple effect. When more women have a seat and a voice in the room where decisions are made, companies grow stronger, cultures grow healthier, and the world benefits.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
For me, success is twofold. On one hand, it’s achieving the long-term vision I have for Growth Activated – helping more women step into executive leadership and creating a real shift in the voices represented in the boardroom. On the other, it’s building a business that gives me the freedom to live the life I want – one filled with purpose, passion, and flexibility.
I’ve always loved to travel, and a big reason I started my own business was to have the ability to live and work from anywhere in the world. Last year, my fiancé and I traveled to 10 countries, and next year we’re planning to spend an extended honeymoon living in Europe. My business makes this possible – it powers a lifestyle where I can work with incredible clients while also experiencing the world.
At the end of the day, I believe success isn’t just about what you achieve in your career – it’s about the balance you create. We all need to build lives we enjoy outside of work, because that joy fuels everything else we do.
