Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lucy Guadalupe.
Hi Lucy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I am currently a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I have grown a passion for working hands-on with individuals of all ages, couples, and families over the last eight years.
My experience has varied from working in child education to working as a suicide crisis responder and working in private practice. From this, I have developed a deeper understanding of human attachment, emotion, trauma, depression, and anxiety, ranging from all ages. I became interested in human experiences and interactions when I could process and understand the significance they hold in daily life and within all relationships. I find it crucial to create a safe, collaborative, and comfortable environment for my clients to offer them useful support through life’s daily challenges.
My therapeutic approach is supporting clients through healing and bonding. I am a strong believer that becoming the best version of yourself is absolutely achievable with the right kind of support and tools. I find joy in helping clients recognize their strengths and then utilize these skills in their daily lives. I emphasize being emotionally present, nonjudgmental, and accepting of anyone who chooses to pursue working with me.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Being a mental health professional absolutely comes with challenging days. Because I am working with a high level of emotion and vulnerability, it can be difficult to separate myself emotionally from my clients and their own experiences.
Although this is what I believe makes me a high-quality therapist, I care. My client’s well-being is important to me, and I value holding a safe, validating, and understanding place for my clients to explore and process whatever they are experiencing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
