Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Viker.
Hi Lindsay, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi, I’m Lindsay Viker. I’m a food blogger at Everyday Dishes who loves to try out new recipes and find ways to make them incredibly easy for you to replicate in your kitchen.
When I first moved out on my own, I had absolutely no skills in the kitchen – or, to be perfectly honest, any interest in learning. I survived on takeout, frozen meals, and the occasional meal back at mom and dad’s house to sustain me. However, when I got married, my husband and I were operating on a lean budget because he was unable to work while we went through the immigration process. We had to quickly learn how to stretch our budget, and learning to cook was one of the easiest ways.
I ended up loving my time in the kitchen and looked forward to making dinner each night. Through this process, I learned how empowering it is to be able to cook healthy and delicious meals for myself and my family. Now, I want to make it easy for people to get in the kitchen and experience success. At EverydayDishes.com, we help busy people who spend too much money on takeout find realistic recipes that fit their food preferences and fuel their day.
I took over Everyday Dishes from the original owner in 2019, and I am so grateful to have a place to share my favorite recipes and cooking tips with the world. I have continued to learn so much throughout this journey and found so many great new foods along the way.
In 2021, I decided to really focus on my health and fitness goals. I was able to lose and keep off 40lbs by following a high-protein diet and weight training. Now, I am sharing the recipes that helped me achieve this goal. There’s a ton of high-protein, macro-friendly recipes on the site that are not only healthy but absolutely delicious. Next, we will be publishing a downloadable guide that will offer tips for meal prepping, eating out, grocery lists, and exclusive recipes.
I hope you follow along with me on this journey and find some new favorite recipes in the process.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There’s really no such thing as a smooth road in life. There will always be challenges that come your way. What matters most is how you handle those challenges. Do you let them defeat you or pull yourself up and push through?
I had to learn a lot about not only cooking, but producing content, managing a website, and digital marketing to be successful with Everyday Dishes. Thankfully there are a ton of great resources available where you can learn this information for free. I love to read blogs, attend webinars, and belong to networking groups where other content creators share resources.
I’ve also learned that you can’t do everything yourself and scale your company. I now work with an amazing SEO agency and content partner who have helped us grow year after year.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our goal at Everyday Dishes is to make cooking accessible and fun for people of all skill levels. We make it simple for busy people to find delicious recipes that fit their food preferences, whether that be keto, vegan, or a simple one-pan dish.
Food is such an important part of our everyday lives. If you need a simple weeknight dinner, we have you covered. If you want to make an impressive dinner for a holiday, we can help you there too.
What matters most for our recipes is that they’re easy to follow, use ingredients you can easily find, and – most importantly – are absolutely delicious.
