Exploring Life & Business with Lauren Murdock of Labor Lauren

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Murdock.

Hi Lauren, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a Labor and Delivery nurse for more than a decade, walking alongside families as they welcome new life into the world. Early in my career, I noticed a pattern: families spent months preparing for their baby’s arrival, but few felt truly prepared for the birth itself. I saw how fear often filled the space where understanding and confidence could be.

During the pandemic, when hospital restrictions limited traditional classes, I started Labor Lauren to offer small, in-person childbirth education to help parents feel informed, empowered, and supported during an uncertain time. What began as a way to bridge that gap quickly grew into something much deeper.

This past year, I felt a clear call to combine my professional experience with my personal faith, teaching birth the way I’ve always believed it was meant to be taught: as a space to surrender, to lean on God, and to find strength that isn’t our own. Because that’s motherhood too, isn’t it? That’s how Faith > Fear Birth™ was born.

Today, through my online courses and community, I help women prepare for labor with evidence-based education and heart-centered encouragement. My mission is to help mamas feel equipped, calm, and confident—ready to birth with faith over fear, no matter how their story unfolds.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like so many small business owners, I started with a vision in my heart and a lot of uncertainty about how to bring it to life. Launching in the middle of a pandemic came with its share of challenges: learning new technology, adjusting to smaller class sizes, and figuring out how to connect with families in a season of isolation.

Stepping out from the comfort of the hospital setting into entrepreneurship stretched me in ways I didn’t expect. It has required faith, humility, and many late nights of learning as I go. There have been moments of doubt and growing pains, but they have also been refining.

Through every challenge, I have been reminded that this work was never meant to be done in my own strength. The same message I share with moms is the one I have had to live out myself: trust the process, lean into grace, and take one step at a time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Labor Lauren?
Faith > Fear Birth™ is an online childbirth education program that blends the best of evidence-based nursing knowledge with encouragement for the heart. After more than a decade as a Labor and Delivery nurse, I saw how much difference preparation makes, not just in understanding the stages of labor but in how confident and calm a family feels when birth begins.

Through my company, Labor Lauren, I offer online courses, digital resources, and a supportive community designed to help women prepare for birth with peace and confidence. Every class is rooted in practical, science-based education that empowers families to make informed decisions and navigate labor with trust instead of fear.

What sets Faith > Fear Birth™ apart is the way it bridges both worlds, the clinical and the personal. I teach from the perspective of someone who has been in the delivery room thousands of times, but also from the heart of a mom who understands how emotional and transformative this season can be.

Brand-wise, I am most proud that everything I create helps women feel seen, supported, and equipped. Whether it is through my online courses, my community, or free birth and faith-based resources, my mission is the same: to help families prepare for birth in a way that strengthens both their knowledge and their relationship with God.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Community has been everything for me. I have an amazing group of women I network with regularly, and we share our weekly goals, celebrate wins, and hold each other accountable. Having that kind of encouragement and honest feedback has been one of the biggest drivers of my growth.

I also joined a business mastermind with a coach who has helped me refine both my strategy and mindset. Committing to that investment felt like a big step of faith at the time, but it has truly stretched and strengthened me as a business owner.

My advice for anyone looking to find a mentor or grow their network is to stay teachable and surround yourself with people who genuinely want to see you succeed. Look for those who challenge you, not just cheer for you, and be willing to invest time, humility, and sometimes resources into your own development. The right community makes the journey so much richer and helps you stay grounded in your purpose when things get hard.
