Exploring Life & Business with Kimber Hammond of Wellness Captured

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimber Hammond. ​She and her team share their story with us below:

A woman in her early 50’s wanting something different with her life. The kids were now grown and moving on. This was the right timing. A little bubble appeared above her head, just like in the cartoons, and it read, “go back to school, re-invent yourself and find passion in skincare to age gracefully and keep the body feeling young and healthy.​” I had been teaching group fitness classes for over 15 years, and it was time to take health and beauty one step further. I was tired of the desk job and ready to make a real difference with people. I decided to go back to school at the young age of 51! I LOVED being back in school, learning, and being challenged while seeking the real-life passion of owning my own business one day. It took me just 2 years to complete 3 different programs to fulfill the dream of opening my own Health and Wellness Spa. It didn’t take long, and I now operate Wellness Captured Spa in 2 different locations, Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona.

Meet Kimber:
She’s a certified aesthetician, massage therapist, and fitness instructor. Staying fit and healthy from the inside out is her passion. The story of Wellness Captured begins here.
For 27 years, she’s used Eminence organic skin care products (a product line originating in Hungary, the world center of spa culture), which she chose for use in her spa. Fifteen years teaching fitness classes piqued her curiosity about the body’s muscular structure, leading her to learn and employ various healing massage therapy techniques.

Kimber enjoys playing outside in her free time — hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, boating, and baseball are at the top of her list. She loves food, exploring the kitchen, pairing healthy food with wine, and sharing it with others. She has lived in Arizona for 33 years, where she raised her two children, and is now excited to share her experiences of finding the fountain of youth with the community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always challenges creating something all your own and on your own. I am involved with the Small Business Administration in Arizona, and they have been an enormous support in helping me to set up a business plan should I need help with financing. I have financed all of my education as well as the business start-ups in 2 different locations. I am still adjusting and trying to secure my footing. The business primarily pays for itself as I try to build both business locations. It is gratifying as I have to be behind the business, doing all of the administrative work and being the only practitioner/provider of all services doing what I love, taking terrific care of my clients.

Is something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I love my very dynamic life at the moment. As I have navigated this process of completely changing my life, returning to school post-divorce, and opening 2 business locations at once, I have also been fortunate to have found love again! The love of my life is entirely supportive of all that I do! I am a synchronized swimmer, I ran a half marathon, I love white water river rafting and I love wine and food!
