Exploring Life & Business with Kevin Maule of The Inside Job

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Maule.

Hi Kevin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was in management one day, on craigslist looking for a band the next. Found Kelvin Hames playing music with a few hired local guns and went to check him out at the QuartHaus in Chandler. Played with him and a few others (Emilio, Jeremy) until Kelvin wanted to form a more serious, creative project: Millennial Summer.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never smooth when drummers are involved. They are an increasingly rare breed, gems amongst pebbles. Everyone needs one. Or wants yours. They’re in ten bands. It’s a lot of gear, it’s like hockey. We lost our first guitarist and when Corey replaced him, it was just right as rain, no worries, no drama. We knew right away he was the one. Drummers are a different story. As a bassist, I get really sad when they go away. We’re on drummer number 4. Super Coop. He’s young, bright-eyed, inventive and I love him. Navigating a changing music scene was also pretty tricky. Thank God we had Alex with Appleblossom. He was energetic, plugged in, super supportive and gave us a really good path forward.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My wife and I have own and operate a cleaning business out of Apache Junction. Cleaning can be good exercise and for meditating, but I enjoy the most all the doggie friends you meet along the way. On Sudays, I serve on the worship team, a minister of bass you can say. Helping my siblings come into contact with Thee Infinite, something I enjoy very much and am honored to do. I also have a really cool gig on the side where I get to go around to the Circle K coolers in my area and organize them. It’s crazy how messy/chaotic they get, but I’m lucky and get to make my own hours, listen to some tunes and take on these fun projects.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I couldn’t be doing this without my wife, her support for me and her genuine love for Millennial Summer keeps me going on the days it’s really hard. Never seems to be enough time in the day, especially with three kids and multiple jobs, etc but my wife helps ground everything and bring the haphazard heart beats of life into a harmonious dance.
