Exploring Life & Business with Kennedy Smith of KSC Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Smith.

Hi Kennedy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. As a little girl, I started a cherry limeade stand in my childhood neighborhood with my sister. We did research to figure out the busiest corners of the neighborhood, and sold cherry limeade instead of your typical lemonade to distinguish ourselves. My first true business was in high school making jewelry with my friend and selling it at farmers markets.

I first noticed the power of social media in 2019. A local yoga studio owner wanted to get more people in the door for classes and events. I told him I would help advertise his studio on Instagram, and after that his monthly events were selling out. He had gained such traction, he was inviting wellness practitioners from across the nation to come speak at his studio events.

I continued to offer social media management to local businesses all throughout college. During college, I also started a luxury wellness magazine called “Well Versed Magazine”. I was living in LA at the time and I was so drawn to the beautiful aesthetic of editorial design, so I wanted to create something similar to the editorial fashion style of Harper’s Bazaar or Vogue but for wellness.

I did that for 2 years just for fun while freelancing social media, attending college at FIDM, and working multiple part time jobs. After college, I got a corporate job at a startup marketing agency. I worked there for 2 years while still freelancing with my own clients on the side. Then I left that job and went “all in” on my own agency.

It was just me for the first 6 months, then I started partnering with contractors to support our growing client roster. We now have a complete media team equipped to take on larger video production campaigns. As we continue to grow, I am always looking for ways to bring more talent into our agency.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No road of entrepreneurship is a smooth one. And if someone tells you it is, they’re probably lying. We are going on our second year of business and there have been so many bumps in the road.

My biggest lesson I have learned is to fail forward. I am constantly learning, evolving and growing with the needs of my team and my clients. There have been mistakes that have cost me thousands of dollars, but the truth is if I didn’t learn those mistakes, they would have happened eventually and been a lot more expensive.

Since our first day in business, I have had to learn from costly mistakes in our processes, hiring, and contractual details.

The most important thing you can focus on in entrepreneurship is being okay with failing, quickly learning from your mistake, and getting back up as fast as you can.

Fail fast and forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about KSC Agency?
KSC Agency is a boutique digital marketing agency that works with small to medium sized luxury brands. We provide organic marketing services like SEO, social media, and video production to help brands scale with $0 in ad spend.

We believe luxury brands deserve strategic clarity and a dedicated marketing partner who is committed to their holistic brand growth. We strive to be our clients’ most valued business partner. Unlike other larger marketing agencies, we are transparent in our reporting and campaigns. Every decision we make is data-based and strategically curated.

We are not an agency that wants to “scale” and have hundreds of clients and outsourced overseas talent. Everything is intentional, local, and personal as we have created an authentic environment within the agency that the clients can feel when they work with us. Strong client relationships are at the core of how we operate.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
AI is obviously the biggest shift already in motion. I use it every day inside KSC, and I think it’s only going to keep changing how brands create, target, and optimize. But I’ve noticed the more advanced these tools get, the more people can tell when content feels manufactured versus real.

So ironically, I think authenticity becomes more valuable, not less. Audiences are craving actual human connection, honest storytelling, and content that feels real. I don’t see that slowing down anytime soon.

I’m also watching how people discover businesses shift. It’s not just Google anymore, it’s AI search and recommendation tools too, so smart marketers are already adjusting their strategy for that.

But at the end of the day, I think the fundamentals stay the same no matter how much the tools evolve. Know your audience deeply, stay consistent, and be honest about who you are as a brand. That’s the foundation I built KSC on, and it’s the same advice I’d give any business owner navigating what’s next.
