Hi John, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
EzDashcam began with a simple idea born out of personal frustration. I witnessed a lot of drivers facing challenges with accidents, insurance disputes, and false claims, all due to a lack of clear video evidence. At the same time, I noticed that many dash cam installations were handled poorly. I realized there was an opportunity to do it correctly.

From the very start, EzDashcam focused on one core principle: quality. Our goal was not to be the cheapest option on the market, but to be the most professional, clean, and reliable choice. Every installation had to look factory-finished, with no exposed wires, no rattles, and no shortcuts. I took personal responsibility for customer conversations, installations, and education, ensuring that each client fully understood how their system worked before I left.

This growth enabled us to build a dedicated team, invest in better tools, provide continuous training, and uphold higher standards. The journey has definitely not been smooth. Like most businesses, the biggest challenges arose early on and never fully disappeared; instead, they evolved into different forms.

In the beginning, my main struggle was trying to do everything myself. I was responsible for installations, customer calls, scheduling, inventory management, and follow-ups all at once. Long days became the norm, and my growth was limited by how many hours I could physically work. Additionally, I had to educate customers on the importance of proper installations, as many were comparing professional services to cheaper or quicker options.

As the business grew, new challenges emerged. It became extremely difficult to find skilled technicians who shared the same attention to detail and work ethic. Training someone to meet our high standards takes time, patience, and consistency. Maintaining quality while scaling the business is one of the hardest parts of this industry, and it is something I continue to take very seriously.

Another challenge has been keeping pace in a rapidly changing field. Vehicle technology evolves constantly, and staying up to date with new models, electrical systems, and safety features requires ongoing learning and investment. There is no room for mistakes when working on modern vehicles.

Financial pressures have also been significant, especially during slower periods or when reinvesting in the business. Choosing long-term quality over short-term profits is not always easy, but it has proven to be the right decision.

Every challenge has pushed us to refine our systems, elevate our standards, and become more disciplined. These struggles have shaped the business into what it is today and helped define what EzDashcam stands for.

I see the business not as something to distance myself from, but as something to protect.

Another surprising aspect is that EzDashcam was never designed for rapid expansion. From an outside perspective, people might assume that our goal is to scale quickly or to franchise. In reality, our priority has always been precision, trust, and building a long-term reputation. I would rather turn away work than compromise the high standards that our customers expect from our name.

Lastly, many people do not realize how much emphasis we place on education. A significant part of our work happens after the installation is complete. Teaching customers how to use their system, understand its settings, and feel confident with the technology is as important to me as the physical installation itself. This mindset is a significant reason why customers remember the entire experience, not just the product itself.
