Exploring Life & Business with Jenna Allen of The Collected House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Allen.

Jenna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always had a love for creating home. Some of my earliest memories are of watching my mom make our house feel special. That love stuck with me, and I knew interior design was what I wanted to do.
I started my business because I believe home is magical — it’s not just where we live, it’s where families grow and thrive. Over time, I’ve developed what I call a ‘fresh traditional’ style: classic shapes and timeless design, but updated in a way that feels thoughtful, livable, and never dated. What began as small projects grew into designing homes where families can truly flourish. Today, I feel grateful that I get to help others create spaces that support the life they want to live.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business while raising four kids has been both a joy and a challenge — balancing family life with client deadlines taught me to get really intentional about my time.
There of course will always be moments of doubt, but each challenge stretches me and helps me grow as not only a woman of business, but also shaping me into a better person as well. With each new challenge of owning a business, the grit and perspective to build something that feels authentic and lasting comes as well.

We’ve been impressed with The Collected House , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a full service Interior Design Firm. The Collected House is centered on creating homes that are both beautiful and livable. I specialize in fresh traditional design — blending timeless details with a modern sensibility. What sets me apart is designing with families in mind, creating spaces that not only look amazing but truly support the way people live. At the end of the day, I believe home does not just happen, it is by design.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
One of my early business mentors always says, “you need to be prepared to be lucky.” I think luck always plays some role, but I believe it meets you halfway when you’re prepared and persistent. I’ve had the good fortune of meeting supportive clients and mentors at just the right time, and I don’t take that for granted. At the same time, there’s been ‘bad luck’ too — challenges, delays, and seasons where nothing seemed to flow. But each of those moments pushed me to grow, adapt, and keep going. In the end, I see both the good and the hard as part of the journey that shaped my business into what it is today.
