Exploring Life & Business with Jade A. Daniels of Clara Communications

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade A. Daniels.

Jade Daniels

Hi Jade, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I developed my love for the communications industry during my undergraduate career at my beloved HBCU, Lincoln University of PA, so much so that I continued honing my skills during my graduate career at Drexel University. After receiving my Masters, I found it nearly impossible to land a role in communications and started to feel defeated and overwhelmed in my job search. After numerous rejections, I decided to create my own lane in this industry and turn my skills and hunger into something I can call my own, Clara Communications. This business means even more to me because it is named after my late Grandmother, who was the glue in my family and continues to be my inspiration to do and be better for myself, my family, and my community. Creating and maintaining my business has come with many ups and downs, lessons learned, and strengthened faith, but I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything. I’ve grown so much as an entrepreneur and a woman, and this journey has forced me out of my shell and pushed me to try new things and not be afraid to fail. Today, Clara Communications is a full-service communications consultancy specializing in social media management, content creation, copywriting, and graphic design for small businesses and non-profits. I am learning and fine-tuning my skills every day to better serve business owners like myself.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This road has been filled with many potholes, but the tires are intact. I’ve faced many struggles as a young Black woman starting a business in an oversaturated and demanding field, including knowing where and how to start, connecting with other comms professionals to learn from and build community with, finding clients, knowing how to price my services, imposter syndrome, and a bevy of others.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
Clara Communications is a full-service communications consultancy, and I specialize in social media management, content creation, copywriting, and graphic design for small businesses and non-profits. Most of my clients come to me for social media management, where I can help them wear one less hat as a business owner. Social media is a full-time job, especially when trying to grow your business and enhance your visibility, so I partner with businesses, brands, and non-profits to strategize, develop, and schedule content that is on-brand, engaging, and consistent. I also help businesses enhance their digital footprint by creating digital content that tells their story, engages their target audience, and brings in valuable leads. What sets Clara Communications apart is my authenticity. I bring my true self, my values, and my passion to my business and the clients I serve. I take my time to learn about my clients and their business/organization and use that to guide the content I create on their behalf. As an individual, I am also someone who advocates for and supports underrepresented groups and I intentionally combine that with my work at Clara Communications through speaking to and providing resources to Black and brown women entrepreneurs, Black youth, LGBTQ+ youth and organizations, etc.
