Exploring Life & Business with Jack Vozar of Bacchus Wine and Debauchery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Vozar.

Hi Jack, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my career as an executive chef in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I was also a professional ice sculptor and competed on a professional level winning many competitions throughout the country. I then transitioned to healtchare as a food and nutrition director which led me to become very interested in service and servant leadership. I then became a patient advocate and worked with families on resolutions to issues that arise throughout their course of care. It was during this very fulfilling work that I truly found my passion in service and service excellence. I then became a consultant with a firm named The Studer Group which focused on employee engagement, patient satisfaction, and physician satisfaction. I worked in hospitals all over the country and also became a sought after speaker on topics such as leadership, patient experience, and operations.

I was recruited by HCA and rose to Assistant Vice President of Patient Experience in several of their divisions before joining Atlas Healthcare Partners as the Vice President of Service Delivery and eventually CEO of two surgery centers in Scottsdale.

Throughout this journey my wife, Kathleen, and I always had a love of wine and started making wine about 20 years ago. We also shared a love of service and it was about 8 years ago we embarked on opening our own wine shop!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were challenges. First and foremost finding a suitable location was very difficult and took nearly two years. Once we got the location the major struggles were the construction process. I won’t go into details but do very good due diligence in selecting your contractor and staying on top of them throughout the construction process.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a self serve wine shop in the west valley. We are known for our amazing selection and variety of wines. We are also known for our food especially the deviled eggs, warm brie with honey, and our charcuterie boards. Our engagement with the customers and our service are truly what sets us apart. You are more than just a customer, you’re family! We also have an art collection and artifacts from all time periods along with memorabilia from history, movies, and sports. They are quite the conversation pieces.

We are definetly most proud of our service and the personal touch we provide to all those that join us for a glass of wine!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is having strong base of regular and repeat customers who are your biggest advocates and spread the word about your business. When that magic happens success always follows.
