Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Treviso.
Hi Greg, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My story begins in 1992 at The University of Northern Colorado. I started my studies believing I would be a Psychology major. I was taking all general education courses along with a few Psychology classes. Then I signed up for a class that changed my life, Anatomical Kinesiology. I loved the study of the body and how it moved. I changed my major to Kinesiology and finished my required curriculum in December of 1996, but my major required a 400-hour internship to graduate. So I chose Cardiac Rehabilitation at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. In this internship, I realized all the ill effects of an unhealthy lifestyle. I chose to do a 2nd internship after I graduated from The Fitness Institute Scottsdale. I realized this was where I needed to be. The hands-on approach of corrective strength training to improve muscular imbalances and nutritional guidance to reduce hypertension, cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar, etc., is exactly where I wanted to be. In 2002 I decided to work on my MBA with an emphasis in Health Care Management to understand the business side of the Fitness Industry. I became the owner of The Fitness Institute Arrowhead in 2004. I am currently in my 25th year of Personal Training and 18th year as a business owner.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
The struggles have been to keep up with the industry. The Fitness industry is always changing with equipment, methodology, and nutrition. We have always stayed our course of beliefs, but you must also stay educated on what others are doing.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Fitness Institute Arrowhead provides personal training to assess posture, muscular imbalance, and past injuries. We have worked with clientele with many issues, including hip replacements, knee replacements, diabetes, metabolic disease, etc. I am proud to say that we have developed and implemented safe, effective programs for all our clientele.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My mentor is Lance Dreher; He is a former 2 time Mr. Universe and 1 time Mr. America; He has helped me understand the aging body over the years. And what exercises to avoid. He also helped me understand low glycemic nutrition, which has helped many lose weight and improve lipid profiles.
