Exploring Life & Business with Debbie & Eddie Davis of FLO Yoga & Cycle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie & Eddie Davis.

Debbie & Eddie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2016 we decided to leave our corporate jobs to open a fitness studio. We chose a location in Downtown Chandler and after some ups and downs, we finally moved into our space in November 2018. Our launch was awesome and everything just went up from there.

We continued to expand our schedule adding more formats and soon we were offering Cycle, Yoga (heated & non-heated), Yin, Stretch, Yoga Sculpt, Flex (strength classes), and Fusion (30min cycling & 30min stretch). Life was good!! Then in March 2020, we closed due to government-mandated lockdowns. After closing and reopening several times in 2020, we finally were permitted to stay open permanently and have been rebuilding ever since. We’ve learned a lot, grown a lot, and continue to build the best fitness community in Chandler.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been anything but smooth! Construction on our building was severely delayed by our landlord (over a year) and of course, the government-mandated lockdowns took a toll on small businesses.

The fitness industry was particularly hit hard with not only mandates and no government aid, but also a narrative of being a high-risk space. It was challenging to combat this narrative but we prevailed by educating people on the importance of physical health, as well as the mental health benefits that occur through group fitness. When gyms were mandated to close, we heard from people around the world and the common theme was “exercise is my therapy”. In fact, we heard it so often that we adopted the tagline “Group Therapy Disguised As Group Fitness”.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
FLO is a one-of-a-kind studio in the Chandler area offering a variety of Yoga formats (both heated and non-heated), Indoor Cycling, and Flex (strength) classes. Classes start bright and early (5: 30am) and end as late as 7: 15 pm. In addition to studio classes, we hold popup events like Yoga on Tap (the next event coming soon) and FLO off Frye (coming up on March 4!). On Thursday nights we have a food truck in our parking lot.

Our classes are open to every age and fitness level and we’re proud to say that we’ve had participants ranging in age from 13 to 80. With FLO people receive three boutique fitness experiences all under one roof at one price. As owners, Eddie & Debbie are always present at the studio, setting the tone and culture. From greeting members to folding towels – they do it all.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
We know your name when you walk in. It’s as simple as that. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave – you are *seen*.

Pricing:

  • 1 week of unlimited classes for $20 – intro offer
  • We always recommend starting with our intro offer – 7 days unlimited for $20.  You’ll get a feel for what classes you love and from there you can decide whether a membership or class package is best for you!
