Exploring Life & Business with Cindy Snider of On The Edge Gallery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Snider.

Hi Cindy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began as a self-taught artist, drawn to bold color and distinct design. Even before I had the technical language for it, I was captivated by structure, contrast, and the energy that comes from a strong visual statement. Over time, I came to understand that my creative instincts weren’t just personal—they were a foundation for building connection and impact through art.

That same passion for clarity and boldness has shaped my leadership as Director of Art at On The Edge Gallery. What began as a personal exploration evolved into a mission to champion other artists and help them find their voice—and their audience. I believe in cultivating both excellence and accessibility, helping artists grow professionally while staying true to their creative core.

My artistic journey is now very intertwined with guiding the gallery’s vision as a place where artists are not only exhibited but also empowered. Cultivating a culture that celebrates individuality while fostering community—and for me, that’s the most exciting kind of design.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t describe the journey as smooth in the traditional sense—but it has been deeply rewarding. For me, the path has been more about discovery than destination. Each challenge has opened up unexpected opportunities to grow, collaborate, and create something meaningful—both in my own work and within the gallery community.

What’s been most fulfilling is the way art has allowed me to build authentic connections—with fellow artists, collectors, and the broader creative community. Leading at On The Edge Gallery has only deepened that experience. Rather than following a straight line, my journey has woven together moments of reinvention, shared purpose, and a collective drive to elevate the role of art in people’s lives. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

We’ve been impressed with On The Edge Gallery, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
On The Edge Gallery is a unique, member-operated fine art gallery located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. We are home to more than 40 talented Arizona artists working in a wide variety of mediums—from painting and photography to sculpture, jewelry, and glass. But more than just a space to exhibit art, we’re a thriving creative community dedicated to supporting artists at every stage of their journey.

What sets us apart is the way we operate—collaboratively, intentionally, and with a clear focus on empowerment. Every artist contributes to the daily operations of the gallery, giving them real ownership and involvement in how their work is presented and how our collective voice evolves.

I’m especially proud of the innovative programs we’ve launched to expand access and opportunity. Our Emerging Artist Program provides mentorship and exhibition space for up-and-coming artists ready to take the next step in their careers. We’ve also partnered with Rio Verde Country Clubs, extending our artists’ reach beyond Old Town and into new audiences and communities.

And this Fall, we’ll take another bold step forward with the launch of our e-commerce platform—designed to meet today’s art buyers where they are, making it easier to discover and collect original work from Arizona artists all year long.

At its core, On The Edge Gallery is about connection: between artist and viewer, between creativity and commerce, and between individual expression and shared vision. We’re not just curating art—we’re building something that invites people in and gives artists the tools to thrive.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I’m happiest when I’m helping others shine. Whether it’s seeing an artist sell their first piece, watching someone step into their creative confidence, or building programs that open doors—it fills me up. I find real joy in collaboration, in being part of something bigger than myself, and in knowing that the work we do at On The Edge Gallery is creating connection and possibility.

On a personal level, bold color, strong design, and thoughtful conversations light me up. I love when creativity and purpose intersect—and when art becomes a way for people to see the world (and themselves) a little differently. That’s where the magic is for me.
