Exploring Life & Business with Becky Wesoloski of Sol Bodyworks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Becky Wesoloski.

Hi Becky, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey started as an athlete myself growing up in Wisconsin. From the time I could walk, my dad had me in ice skates and the journey began. I participated in many different sports including ice hockey, soccer, lacrosse, swimming, cross-country running, and equestrian sports.

I eventually got burnt out on the gym and training to do all these sports and my college degree landed me in a career as a veterinary technician but the one sport that I continued to do beyond college was equestrian sports. I rode multiple horses a day which eventually lead to lower back pain that made it unbearable to do the one thing I loved.

When I moved to Arizona 9 years ago, I began working with a personal trainer since the gym is a place I used to feel good and found solutions through all the trainers I had worked with previously for sports. As I became stronger in the gym again, the pain started to subside and I felt better but wasn’t resolved. This lead me to some physical therapy and eventually massage which resolved the pain and continuing to do strength training with a trainer helped maintain the resolution. I decided right then and there that I wanted to go back to school to be able to help others find a solution to their pain and get back to enjoying the activities they love!

It also brought me back to my roots and where I started in life. I started by getting my certification for personal training and was fortunate to work with many amazing mentors to launch my career and start my own business. As I launched my business, I also went back to school for massage therapy as I had a desire to be able to do more to help people. I have loved the last 4 years of being able to use my skill sets to help people move better, feel better, and reach their health and wellness goals.

I love continuing to learn through each person I work with and continue to take classes to better myself and acquire more knowledge and skills to help my clients. My clients are horses as well! I love being able to help horses and riders through training and massage to become a better team in and out of the saddle.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been far from a smooth road! The journey of being a business owner has been one of a lot of learning and trial and error.

I had to overcome fear and doubts and opinions of others close to me as well as my self-doubt and become my cheerleader giving myself the confidence that I could do this. The journey of stepping into your power and your calling can be quite lonely. Fortunately, I work in an amazing ecosystem now where I feel supported and I’m not alone with many amazing referral partners.

I also have the challenge of being in a field that many look at as “luxury” services and being high-cost and not a priority. The body would say otherwise though as movement and bodywork has many health benefits, physically, mentally, and spiritually and can help prevent or resolve many ailments.

We’ve been impressed with Sol Bodyworks, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am known for being able to listen to people, be adaptable and versatile, and solve problems that have been plaguing my clients for some time. I feel working with horses has given me sort of a sixth sense and built up my intuition since they cannot speak which transfers over in my work with people.

I can hone in on the problem before they even tell me anything. I can also do sessions that are a combination of massage, strength training, and energy work, adapting to what the client and their body may need and is very unique to the services I can provide.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have been very fortunate to learn from many mentors over the years I have been in business. There are two that stand out though, and I’m fortunate to work alongside them daily. You are the product of the top five people you spend the most time with so in building up my business over the last couple of years, I have spent a lot of time around the people who are successful and where I want to be.

I ask questions and learn as much as I can from these people. My top two have provided such unconditional support, challenged me, never let me give up, and have believed in me more than I have believed in myself along my journey over the last couple of years. It just feels good to be around these people.
