Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Rytting and Chance Sidebottom.
Alisha and Chance, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Chance and I (Alisha) have been in the health and fitness industry since we were in high school. I was an athletic trainer for a couple of colleges and Chance trained throughout college and after. We had always dreamed of opening a gym, as we both have a real passion for helping people live healthy lifestyles. Since being healthy is so important, it became a passion of ours—one that we wanted to share with others to help more people become the best versions of themselves. Last year, we decided to “just go for it.”
The word “family” means a lot to us. We’re a young family, as we had our first daughter almost two years ago. We like that tight-knit community full of support. We wanted to create a community where people who visit are not just another number, we know our members by name. Ra Fitness does little events and invites all of our members to join them.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our journey was far from smooth. We moved here in 2019, and we signed our lease less than six months after moving from Colorado. When you add not having a large network with the COVID lockdowns, you get a long year of stress, worry, unanswered questions and very few people to turn to for help. We had planned on opening our gym in March of 2020, but with the unknown, we were delayed. We then opened for one week in May and were not able to open our doors officially until Mid-September. In our industry, you do not want to start your business at the end of the year, when holidays are the priority and the gym is being pushed to the new year. We also were new parents and had to balance work, life, and baby. Our journey may not have been easy, as we still hit bumps in the road to this day, but we have grown an unbelievable environment and we could not be more blessed for our humbling experience.
