Exploring Life & Business with Olivia Gaxiola of FIT Boutique Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Gaxiola.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi! I’m Olivia Gaxiola, and I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. I had always enjoyed taking different fitness classes, from yoga to indoor cycling classes. I was that girl signing up for 6 am classes! I decided to get certified in POUND fitness and then Barre. I began teaching classes everywhere they’d let me lol from Gyms to the Jewish Community Center. During this journey, I was always working at law firms full time at the same time teaching classes in the evenings. I continued to teach my scheduled classes within my community. As years passed, I asked myself one day, ‘Olivia, why don’t you open up your own fitness studio?’ at first, I really didn’t take that thought too seriously. But as time passed, that same thought would keep revisiting me. I finally realized that fear was holding me back. I knew I needed to stop operating by fear and begin my real dream of opening up a fitness studio. I decided to start saving money, And let me tell you – three years later! It was not easy being patient. It was not easy telling everyone around you that you were going to open up a fitness studio that didn’t even exist! But my dream was still vivid and alive. I then began looking for studios around my city. Studio after studio, I was turned down for certain reasons.

Then, one weekday evening, I decided to grab an açaí bowl in Downtown Tucson. Next to this açaí spot, there was a vacant spot. I loved it! It had just the right space for offering classes. I decided to call them. The broker who I actually met with knew me from my past community fitness classes around town. This made me feel good! Because she knew what I was about and my passion for fitness! After passing so many hoops and the process of making this happen. I was given the keys to my fitness studio in Downtown Tucson. January of 2020 will be one year! I’m grateful for this journey and where I am today. FIT Boutique Studio is located at 245 E. Congress. We offer Barre, Yoga, and Cardio Sculpt, Classes. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
You have to remember. I was telling people that I was opening up this fitness studio that didn’t exist! No website and no actual location! And telling myself that I was going to have this studio one day was challenging. My main struggle was the discipline of staying consistent. Some days, I was asking myself what in the world I was doing. And other days, I felt like a badass doing her thang manifesting what life had to offer! So it was more of an internal struggle. Staying positive during a life changing moment is very difficult, but it’s totally DOABLE! Let me tell you, affirmation is a real thing. Practice them daily. I also began to read positivity books, listened to podcasts. It was important for me, just as you work out your muscles, your brain is like a muscle as well. You have to work out mentally. Trust me. I still have my days. We’re human! I’m human. Today, I know how to stay disciplined and be more tactical about things mentally and physically.

We’re an intimate studio that approaches fitness mentally and then physically. You have to start from the inside out, or else it just doesn’t work. Our goal is to put you in a good head space mentally every time you leave our studio. We provide Barre, Yoga and Cardio Sculpt Classes. We specialize in group fitness classes. All are welcomed!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That everyone is welcomed! 80% of our studio is women based. However, we’d love to see more men join the FIT Famiglia! Latina Women Owned.
