Daily Inspiration: Meet Shelly Hubman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelly Hubman.

Hi Shelly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey with vivid experiences in high school—sleep paralysis and spontaneous astral projection—that cracked open my sense of reality. This led me to study literature, especially meta-fiction and deconstruction, in grad school, where I explored identity, language, and perception. While pursuing Spanish literature, I dove deep into meditation and Buddhism on the side.

Years of silent retreats, intensive practice, and spiritual study slowly peeled away layers of conditioning. I began to experience myself beyond the personal story—beyond the history, personality, and human messiness of “Shelly.” It felt like waking up from a long dream. As this awakening unfolded, it wasn’t just insight—it was energetic. I began having increasingly intense, undeniable energy experiences.

At first, I dismissed energy healing as fantasy. But direct experience changed that. I received energy work, felt its impact, and eventually trained as a healer myself. My system became remarkably quiet and coherent, often for extended periods.

But coherence alone wasn’t integration. Something vital was still missing: I had to learn how to live this awakening. How to stabilize, embody, and act from expanded consciousness—not escape into it. That’s when my path became about embodiment, service, and living from the truth of who I really am.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not even close to smooth—it’s been one of the most circular and soul-stretching journeys I could imagine. My greatest challenge has been learning to love and accept myself enough to truly show up: to speak my truth, to stop hiding, to stop avoiding, to stop blaming. I’ve had to break the trance of victimhood and reclaim the power I once gave away. The hardest part wasn’t the outer struggle—it was facing the inner resistance to being fully authentic. Each step forward has required me to choose self-compassion over self-judgment, alignment over approval, and presence over performance. And while the road hasn’t been linear, every loop brought me back to a deeper truth: that the Source of everything I was seeking was already within me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I began my professional journey in academia, teaching Spanish at Boston College, Northwestern, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. After moving to Tucson, I also taught middle school—but over time, I felt called toward something more aligned with my soul’s work.

Today, I hold sacred space for a small number of clients. These are individuals who are ready to awaken, who feel the call to release what no longer serves them and live more fully aligned with their truth.

What I do is guide people through deep energetic and somatic healing. I help them dissolve emotional and mental patterns that are keeping them stuck. It’s not about fixing anyone—it’s about helping them remember who they really are.
Clients often tell me they experience a profound shift in our work together—more peace, more clarity, and a sense of expansion they haven’t felt in years. They joyfully invest in this process because it gives them something priceless: the ability to be present in their own lives again.

What sets my work apart is the space I hold. It’s soft but steady, open yet deeply grounded. I don’t rush or push; instead, I honor the timing of each person’s truth. I trust that when the environment is right, the insights will rise naturally.
One client said:

“Working with Shelly is like encountering a brilliant mirror—radiant and clear, reflecting your truth with warmth and compassion. Her insights arrive like pearls of wisdom, just when you’re ready to receive them.”
— Gabrielle Rubin, Acupuncturist

Another said:

“Shelly’s sessions have deeply impacted my Craniosacral therapy practice. Her somatic-centered inquiry and meditative presence make her work truly unique.”
— Alexander Shi Shi

This work is my joy and my devotion. I feel honored to walk beside others as they return home to the truth that’s already within them.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I believe we’re in the midst of a significant shift. More and more people are waking up to the limitations of purely intellectual or surface-level approaches to healing. There’s a growing openness to energy work, somatic coaching, and deeper forms of emotional release.

What used to feel “woo-woo” or fringe is now being recognized as essential. People are craving authenticity, embodiment, and real transformation—not just more information or mindset tips. I see a rising demand for practitioners who can guide others into their body, their emotions, and their energy systems in grounded, accessible ways.

Over the next 5–10 years, I believe this field will become more integrated into mainstream wellness. Emotional and energetic literacy will be seen as vital—just like physical fitness or mental health support. And those of us who’ve been holding this work quietly for years will be called to step forward and share it more boldly.
