Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelby Smolinski.
Hi Shelby, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am a native of Arizona, born and raised right in Peoria, and never left. I have always had a passion for the beauty industry and this lead me to attend beauty school as a senior in high school. My creative and outgoing personality helped me to become successful as a professional hair stylist for over 15 years!
Seeing the happiness in people’s eyes after getting their hair done is one of the best parts of my career. I have been married to my husband for 9 incredible years now and we have 2 amazing children together. One of my recent additions to my resume is becoming a community stylist for Kendra Scott jewelry and I just love that I can expand my ability to make women feel beautiful and confident in every way!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My path in life has been, for the most part, a smooth one. God has truly blessed me and my family greatly. Of course, there’s been some bumps and bruises here or there, and having a husband who is a firefighter can have its own set of challenges but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
After the birth of our daughter, there were some challenges and hardships that followed but it’s all been worth every second of struggling.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional hair stylist, who specializes in classic and timeless styles with expertise in blonde hair.
I am also a brand partner and community stylist for Kendra Scott Jewelry. I am most proud of my ability to truly affect people’s lives by styling their hair and being able to make women feel so beautiful.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
One of the biggest things I have learned is how fast life can change and how precious it all is.
We have to be able to adapt and overcome in the blink of an eye. Staying strong in any adversity and being able to rely on your family and friends in your time of need.
