Daily Inspiration: Meet Seryna Acevedo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seryna Acevedo.

Hi Seryna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Unaware of the impact social media would have on my life today, it all began in 2021 when I joined an online fitness community. I was simply searching for likeminded women to bounce motivation and grab a cup of coffee with. To my surprise, I shortly learned that I had signed up to become a community lead for the brand and I guess I had spunk because I began hosting in person events and they began sharing my videos on their page. From this I created small opportunities with more businesses and built a portfolio around my hobby.

Flash forward to today I have been lucky to have collaborated with well known brands such as Keep Nature Wild, HydroFlask, and Simple Mills to name a few with EF Ultimate break becoming the most impactful on my journey. I was lucky enough to become a group leader and recruit friends to join me in Peru this past September.

After graduating from ASU with a Bachelor’s in Sustainability and certification in Marketing, I traded in my hobby for a 9 – 5 becoming the Social Media Manager for the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and traveling the world in between.

Although working in a professional setting was a wonderful opportunity, I craved a work life balance combining my love of digital marketing and travel. As of 2024, I have stepped away from my role with the Princess in pursuit to create my own business as a freelance Social Media Manager, content creator, and soon to be Travel Guide.

With a passion for authentic content creation, having explored 10 different countries, residing in multiple spaces, and connecting with people from all walks of life I have had the opportunity to sharpen my skills and become proficient in videography, editing, storytelling, trend monitoring, brand collaboration, hosting live events, and more in order to share brand’s stories and advance innovative marketing solutions that resonate with diverse audiences.

I am still in the early stages of launching my business, but I hope to build a clientele that shares the same passion for social media marketing and wants to build a community around their products/services. Furthermore, in the longterm, I plan to help travelers explore the world by creating guides and leading tours throughout the world’s most beautiful spaces connecting with locals in search of hidden gems.

Both of these roles bring me immense joy and I am very grateful to be surrounded by a supportive community of friends and family while I pursue my business dreams and build a fulfilling life.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not entirely. There was a time when I took a step back from social media because I let others opinions get the best of me. A social media manager is a newer career path and often times looked at as untraditional. Although many brands are in search of help today, this wasn’t always the case.

Furthermore, being a first generation graduate, with dreams originally to become a pediatric oncologist, the shift to launching a creative business was not always understood. Like many other young business owners I have come to know, there are challenges internally and externally. Flying by the seat of your pants is something you have to be comfortable with and doubt can tend to creep in at times, but everyday is the opportunity to learn something new and better your skillset. I’ve leaned into the unknown and learned that once you set a solid foundation everything else tends to flow a little more freely.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a freelance social media manager assisting others in growing their online presence by applying innovative marketing solutions to share their brands story and value of products/ services, connecting them to their target audience.

Additionally, I am pursuing content creation for my own brand and offering to help you plan your dream vacation through travel itinerary services, with the hope that one day I may also run international tours sharing my love for the world and helping others discover theirs.

What matters most to you?
When it comes to my business it is most important that I find aligned clients. What I mean by that is, they are passionate about their product/ service and care about their community or consumer. Traditional sales marketing is no longer as effective. People don’t want a script, they crave authenticity. When it comes to content you need to provide value in a way that is impactful, how you do that is by believing in what you are doing.

I am passionate, but also hold myself to a standard aiming for high quality in a way that I hope joy still shines through.
