Hi Scott, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Scott Vasquez’s journey into music began in the vibrant underground scene of Southern California in the early ’90s. What started with a love for breakdancing quickly evolved into a lifelong passion for rhythm, energy, and connection through music.

By 2003, that passion took a new direction when Scott picked up his first set of Technic turntables. Countless hours of practice turned into mastery, and in 2008 he stepped behind the decks for his first public performance — the start of a career that would soon define his life.

From backyard parties to celebrity celebrations and million-dollar weddings, Scott has done it all. Today, with over 16 years of professional experience and more than 1,000 events to his name, he’s recognized as one of California’s premier wedding and private event DJs. As a long-standing preferred vendor with Wedgewood Weddings since 2016, he’s built a reputation for seamlessly blending energy, elegance, and authenticity at every event he touches.

What sets Scott apart is his ability to connect with diverse crowds. A proud Latino who also speaks conversational Arabic, he’s become a trusted choice for various multicultural weddings — bringing people together through a shared love of music. His professionalism and adaptability have also earned him opportunities to perform for celebrity and high-profile clients across the West Coast.

Featured in publications such as The Digital Journal and Woman’s Journal, Scott continues to redefine what it means to be a modern event DJ — equal parts artist, curator, and storyteller. Now he currently hosts the fastest growing wedding podcast, streaming on all major platforms, “What I Wish You Knew About Your Wedding”. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Behind the lights, the music, and the packed dance floors lies a side of DJing that few ever see. The life of a DJ isn’t easy — it’s built on long nights, constant learning, and relentless hustle. Growth doesn’t happen overnight. It takes years of building a name, earning trust, and finding your voice in a crowded industry.

For Scott Vasquez, the hardest part hasn’t just been perfecting the craft — it’s been staying relevant in a world that’s always changing. Music trends evolve, clients’ expectations rise, and the pressure to keep your brand fresh never stops. But it’s that very challenge that fuels his passion. Every set, every event, and every crowd is another chance to grow, connect, and prove that great DJs don’t just play music — they create moments that last long after the night ends.

I specialize in weddings specifically, with nearly two decades of experience behind the decks, I’ve seen just about every kind of celebration imaginable — from intimate backyard ceremonies to grand, luxury ballroom weddings. No matter the vision, size, or budget, my goal is always the same: to make sure I am the perfect fit.

I know that no two weddings are ever the same. Each couple has their own story, traditions, and musical heartbeat. That’s why I take the time to truly get to know you — to ensure style, energy, and approach align perfectly with the celebration.

As a modern open-format DJ, I am ready for almost anything. I can adapt and play any music, whether it’s pop, hip-hop, country, Latin, Arabic, Afrobeats, EDM, or a little bit of everything, I’ll curate soundtracks that feel personal and unforgettable.

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of performing over a thousand of weddings and events — from culturally diverse celebrations like Latin, Middle Eastern, African, and Asian weddings, to themed and destination events across California and beyond all the way to Minnesota! Our experience also extends beyond weddings, with performances for brands like Tommy Hilfiger, GAP, and G by Guess, as well as live events, sports matches, school dances, and more.

At the end of the day, I may be considered one of California’s top professional wedding DJs.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
There are honestly far too many people to name, and I mean that sincerely. It all starts with my wife and my family — they’ve been my foundation since day one. Their support, patience, and belief in me have made everything possible.

From there, the list just keeps growing. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have mentors, friends, and fellow DJs who’ve helped me learn, grow, and stay inspired through every stage of my career. Each one has played a critical role, whether it was offering advice, sharing knowledge, or simply believing in what I was trying to build.

And of course, none of this would exist without my clients. Every couple, event planner, and creative partner who has trusted me with their special day has shaped who I am as both a person and a DJ. Every experience — big or small — has taught me something and pushed me to be better.

So while I can’t list everyone by name, I’m genuinely grateful to all the people who have been part of this journey. They’re the reason I get to do what I love every single day.
