Daily Inspiration: Meet Science Fair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Science Fair.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It started with Riley (Drums) and Nick (Vocals). Both had just gotten out of other musical projects (thanks Covid) in early 2021 and were looking to start something new.

A mutual friend of theirs, Emily Grieve from local band Turn Zero, introduced the two and the early stages of Science Fair began. From there it was a slow process of auditioning, writing, and rewriting until we found AJ (Guitar) who introduced the core sound. After writing a handful of songs (and a series of Craigslist ads), we found Eli (Bass) who rounded out the roster, bringing more Pop-punk influence to the band.

Although we are still new, we are incredibly excited to get out and play shows in the Phoenix area!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Our first major obstacle as a band was finding a solid lineup.

While we’ve been through a few auditions, we’re incredibly fortunate to have found a solid core group of dedicated, talented people who push each other to be better musicians. Writing together posed another challenge. We all have different writing backgrounds that can be hard to reconcile at times, but it all comes together to make something greater than we could ever achieve alone.

Finding shows to play and bands to support has been our most recent challenge. We luckily have a few connections in the local scene and have our debut show kicking off the No Lungs Tour IRL on March 4th at the Nile Underground.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Science Fair is a Pop-Punk band formed in early 2021 and we have over 20 years of playing and performing experience combined. We’ve been working hard over the past 8 months to give the valley something exciting to listen to.

We’re incredibly proud of how many great songs we’ve written so far and the amount of support we’ve received as someone new on the scene.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Our families and friends have been incredibly supportive and we’re grateful for the response we’ve already gotten from the local scene.
