Today we’d like to introduce you to Rochelle Le Roy.
Hi Rochelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my professional career as a makeup artist and moved into licensed aesthetician and instructor, for a duration of about 25 years. With the economy crashing in 2007-2009, I lost everything and had to start from scratch, so I went back to get my Bachelors degree and became a Speech Pathology Assistant . Through all of my work life at this point was understanding people, and being a listener and helper. In 2017, I started my Masters program to become a mental health counselor. If I thought things were hard prior, my whole life imploded during this time with both of my parents dying and several other struggles of life on its own terms. From all of the struggle, along with some international missionary experiences, I have grown in my faith with the Lord and see that my mission is now being a mental health counselor. This world is a hard place for all of us, so being an empathetic, understanding and God fearing woman, I counsel from a Bible world view and do my best to meet each client where they are. Along with my peers and as a clinical supervisor for, I strive to be a part of positive, productive and healing growth so we can all be the best we can be.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I stated before it has not been a smooth road. Things like losing both of my parents to Cancer, living through the Corona Virus years (as we all did), and other personal health challenges has made me stronger and more resilient. I would also add to this season of refinement- continuing to grow in humility, peace, clarity of true joy and ongoing improvement in my professional skills.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been blessed to travel the world on several occasions to do Faith based international missions work in Africa and India. This has been so humbling and an eye opening opportunity to experience a very different perspective on humanity, helping without harming and standing together for good. I gained a clearer understanding of knowing what is in my control which is key to keep my own anxiety and fear at bay. This is an integral part of living life for change and true healing. I have to thank God for this mind and behavior change, I would not be here today without His protection, provision and guidance. I think this would be what sets me apart! If I had to say that I “specialize” in in anything, it would be helping with perspective taking, creating a balance between Inner child (Freud) and being successful on the other side of that (Jung). Along with the faith based approach of the Bible and the truth of His Word.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I love the One Minute Pause App for faith based mindfulness, The Bible, Timothy Keller, Craig Groeschel,
John Bradshaw and Bessel von der Kolk are some authors/books I like to read. I spend a lot of time taking continuing education courses to improve my professional knowledge and skill set. For self care and personal healing, I attend worship service with Bible teaching weekly and participate in being mentored through a faith based community, building and improving my personal emotional, spiritual and mental health.
