Today, we’d like to introduce you to Queen Jordii.
Queen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Jamaica, and making jewelry was a childhood hobby. I started my jewelry business QueenJordii’s Gems, many years after immigrating to the United States and serving in the United States Air Force. For the last five years, I have been growing QueenJordii’s Gems.
I have participated in numerous pop-up shops and fashion shows to promote and showcase my jewelry in Arizona. I have been invited to work alongside nonprofits focused on uplifting the youth. I share with them my story of persevering and following my childhood dreams.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have had many challenges, but giving up was never an option. I started QueenJordii’s Gems just six months after my military service, and my main reason for starting a business was that I wanted to work for myself and on my terms. I did not realize all the challenges of owning a business.
Being disciplined and consistent has always been my nature, but as a business owner, these traits must be at the forefront of your consciousness. I have been challenged to stay motivated regardless of how I feel. When you have custom orders to create and a community of people who support you, you must keep showing up for them.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I handmake gemstone jewelry, specializing in free-styled wire wrapping. I am self-taught, and all my ideas flow through me. What sets me apart from others is that all of my pieces are one of a kind, and sometimes, I don’t even know what is being created until I am more than halfway through.
Other times, I don’t know until I am finished. I work best when given a color scheme to work with or preferred gemstones and the freedom to create what comes to me. I am most proud of how my designs have evolved! I get excited when challenged to make something new or when hired to style someone’s outfit.
My most popular jewelry is custom headpieces, chokers, and #queenjordiiswaistbeads.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
My customers, or my GEMS (as I lovingly call them), can expect to go on many beautiful adventures with QueenJordii’s Gems in 2024 and beyond.
Stay tuned for more, and thank you all for your support over the five years I have been in business. I am very grateful to everyone who has ever supported QueenJordii’s Gems in any way!
