Daily Inspiration: Meet Patty Stirling Shukla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patty Stirling Shukla.

Hi Patty, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am basically a rockstar for kids on YouTube! I have over 2 million subscribers. What kids don’t realize is that they are learning key curriculum standards while dancing, and having a great time with me!

I started writing educational music for my son 13 years ago when he was nonverbal at the age of two years old. I realized through song, dance, and movement he could learn language skills and comprehend learning much easier and faster. Children learn in so many different ways and music is one of the greatest ways to introduce learning skills. I created a few simple videos with him and his friends singing and dancing to my educational songs and posted them on Youtube. Instantly they went viral on YouTube. People all over the world were emailing me daily and letting me know how useful my music was in their classrooms and at home. That inspired me to continue to help children all over the world. Today my son is a healthy happy teenager and I saw firsthand what music can do to help teach him in a fun way.

Since then I have made it my life mission to help provide needed early childhood education skills through music. I consult academic specialists all over the world for their input and create all my music from home in my home studio. I have been a keynote speaker for early childhood conferences since 2015 and I am developing my own pilot series to submit to Netflix this year. My goal is to help educators and parents connect with their children through music in a simple, fun learning way, that includes a lot of playing and dancing. I now have over 600 videos on YouTube, a learning website that is used in schools at www.pattysprimarysongs.com and continues to write songs weekly. I feel fortunate to have traveled to all 50 states with my family, touring and sharing my music with the country. This summer we will be in the Pheonix area in June. My 3 children are my inspiration.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
YouTube has changed along the way with its algorithms and rules for children’s channels. But I re-imaged it and made it work even with restrictions such as not being able to communicate live anymore or view comments.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do original music on YouTube for children. It’s all educational and based on curriculum standards. What makes my music different is the movement. I know children love to dance and mimic and play, so that’s how I approached learning new skills and songs…through movement.
