Today we’d like to introduce you to Nateo Baggins
Hi Nateo, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all began on Twitter dot com. My Twitter—which is the only name I’ll use to describe the service, as I remember her in her glory days and not the current shithole it’s become—is my medium. A stream of consciousness, ranging from the hilarious viral moment to the lowest-caliber excuse for a thought. It all comes together under the name @natetella
There’s something to be said about the culture (again, back in the golden age, not so much some areas of it today) that shaped me and many others into a particular style of humor—one best described as “terminally online,” but more through words, images, and video. Not to be confused with those of, say, TikTok or Instagram—those are violent pits of despair you might find yourself trapped in. Not Twitter, though. That was different. (Plausible and/or ignorant deniability)
Truthfully, I have no goals or direction in my style of posting. I post whatever comes to mind, and if others enjoy it for what it is, then so be it. Like most credible artists would agree, the deadly sins find their way into influencing otherwise. Weak minds are everywhere; nothing you can do about that. Twitter introduced me to many friends, ranging from personal to networkable, and my life is now displayed in the sick medium known as social media posting. I’m no influencer; I’m merely a boy with a dream. That dream? To post my unfiltered thoughts online—via text, images, and the occasional video
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, it has been as smooth as I can enjoy it. Although I have received death threats over the things I choose to share online—like a photo of me at Snoqualmie Falls with the caption “Ween Hat at Twin Peaks Waterfall,” which, for some reason, inspired violence in the eyes of many. Why this reaction? I can’t say. Thankfully, none of these decrepit wishes have come true
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a self-proclaimed artist who simply exists in this world, plucking inspiration from all five corners of the earth and using just about any medium to share with those who have a keen eye to witness. I’m most known for being myself, and the things I’m most proud of are as follows:
Captain & Schmitty (YouTube Web Series, found at https://www.youtube.com/@StreamedBroccoliTV)
Neighborhood News (YouTube Web Series, found at https://www.youtube.com/@StreamedBroccoliTV)
Ween Hat Guy (if you google Ween Hat Guy a photo of me appears, which is pretty cool)
Also, I have recently picked up a camera and have been retrying my hand at photography so, that’s cool
How do you think about happiness?
Thank you for asking, and assuming that I am happy—which I am. Expressing myself in unfathomable ways makes me the happiest. To live freely, providing entertainment to those around me and, most importantly, to myself. Typically, the things I say or do begin as a selfish motivation that I find hilarious. More often than not, others do too, which helps me identify those I should collaborate with, whether in friendship or artistic endeavors
Socializing makes me happy. Friendship makes me happy. Community makes me happy. But most of all, I make myself laugh, which, in turn, makes me happy and provides an unlimited stream of joy for the reasons listed above
