Daily Inspiration: Meet Markila Neal AKA KIKISTYLES

Today we’d like to introduce you to Markila Neal AKA KIKISTYLES.

Hi Markila, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started doing makeup when I went to hair school, I found out that makeup was my passion in hair school. So for years, I’ve been a makeup artist and it’s been 11 years since I’ve held this title. I actually came up with my cosmetics brand which includes eyeshadows lipsticks eyelashes and eyeliners with my own makeup brushes. My dream is to be well known and to travel to Paris and work on the models that rip the runway.

I am a behind a scenes type of woman I like people to notice my work on my clients, I also am a stylist so when my clients come to me to get their makeup done I do offer services to dress them plus style their hair, only applying lace wigs currying and cutting. God gave me this gift to reach my clients through his gospel. I’m so excited for my future because it just literally started at the beginning of 2023. I put God in everything I do and that’s my motto him first.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not I’m from Chicago so I’m well-known back home. After marrying my husband we moved to Vegas and it was challenging to restart building clients I had some on some days and on others none.

I felt so discouraged looking at others’ social media platforms and there are a lot of makeup artists so being in this industry is a bit more challenging after Las Vegas we ended up here where I started my cosmetics brand and oh boy I said again here it goes rebuilding and trying to gain clients after 4 years living here, I’m finally getting notice and I stay booked and busy every weekend, I’m so happy about this.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialized in makeup I always say there are no rules to makeup, we are artists we create and we think big. I use to just settle for natural looks and stick to playing it safe. But by taking classes and refreshing my work I’m so much better than what I used to be so not only do I do naturally but I do whatever my clients want. I’m proud that now I build my clientele and that every weekend I stay booked and also I’ve stepped out of my shell by doing more content and putting myself out there. Knowing that you stay confident in yourself and don’t care or what others do makes you very successful.

What do I think sets me apart from others let’s be real and get down to it. I have a bubbly genuine spirit I make every women and man that sit in my chair know that they are beautiful no matter what.I always let them know you’re only here to enhance  your beauty don’t get it twisted you’re beautiful inside and out. I care about each and every one of my clients. Testimony time I had a client that came to me for the first time after she kept coming and one day she told me kiki do you know why I keep coming back not just because you do great work on my face, it’s because you have compassion your genuine and the fact that you make me feel the best that I am it’s never a dull moment sitting in your chair, that day she said that that made my heart smile. This is why I love what I do, I do it for my clients.

What do you think about happiness?
Makeup makes me happy first Hod does this because he wakes me up every morning to keep living my dream and that’s working to going full-time doing makeup and styling my clients.
