Daily Inspiration: Meet Lisa Crite

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Crite.

Lisa Crite

Hi Lisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Lisa. I am a certified herbalist with a Master’s in Business Administration. I was born and raised on the West Side of Detroit, MI, surrounded by strength, love, and resilience. As an artist from birth, I’ve always had a passion for creating, healing through natural remedies, connecting through the creation of art, and expressing through the creation of dance. I grew up in a God-fearing family, which shaped who I am today. God used many people to mold me, and to them, I am forever thankful. My mother was called home on March 12, 2018. My deep emotional pain manifested physically. Through my grief journey, I reconnected with God in a way I had never experienced. I developed a deeper connection, acknowledgement, and appreciation for the love He’s shown us through His works here on earth. Because herbs, vegetables, and fruits can replenish themselves (with proper gardening), and God stated they are to be used for food and medicine (Ezekiel 47:12), I believe He gave us a constant source of healing that should never run out. Through my knowledge of Christ, personal experience with holistic healing, and love of people, I am walking in my purpose.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The most challenging part of this journey has been the jump to becoming an entrepreneur. Taking that leap of faith was the first challenge for me. My next obstacle to overcome is earning enough brand recognition and trust to get housing in major retail stores and partnerships with holistic practitioners.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I specialize in internal, external, and educational healing. I offer herbal tea blends, steams, and herbal-infused body and hair products geared toward healing symptoms, not just covering them up. What makes me stand out is my approach to holistic education. I also offer hands-on, educational herbal-based workshops where people can learn about herbs and make an herbal-based product.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like the growing diversity that Phoenix has to offer. I see a lot of entrepreneurs in different fields doing great things out here. However, I would improve black business owners’ lack of recognition from non-black media outlets.

Pricing:

  • I offer free initial 15-minute consultations with a 10% discount for my clients who have had a consultation.
  • My herbal tea blends are $15 for 1.5 oz, equal to 2-25 servings, and $19 for 3 oz, equal to 40-45.
  • My herbal body and hair product cost $15.
  • My workshops range from $20-$45.
