Daily Inspiration: Meet Leticia Long

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leticia Long.

Hi Leticia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Wow! Hello everyone! I am so excited to meet you. My name is Leticia A. Long. I grew up in Sunny San Diego, California during my childhood. The person who inspired me to pursue my career field was my mom. She was my biggest role model, at an early age I saw her invest in a healthy and happy lifestyle which was something that was fascinating to me as a child. My inspiration from my mom transcended into me becoming a Licensed Cosmetologist and Beauty consultant for over 25 years. 

During the early 90s, right after high school, I worked as a make-up artist/skincare consultant for a Fortune 500 company. I continued on that road for a decade before I decided to go to school to become a licensed Cosmetologist, Aesthetician, and Nail Technician. 

I opened my own salon in 2000 and started working one on one with women of all races, hair textures, and different skin types. My primary focus was hair extensions and hair restoration. I also had a cosmetic line where I sold skincare products and supplements. 

Over the course of that time, I met with hundreds of clients and gave hundreds of consultations. Two main problems that I discovered were that women had problems growing their hair and clearing their skin up. I developed a solution to these problems. 

The solution was extreme glow hair, skin, and nails, a capsule that aids in the restoration of hair, skin, and nails. I started Purelistic Health and Beauty. I have several amazing products on my line that clear the skin, grow hair and boost the entire immune system. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the obstacles that I face in being a minority and an African-American woman in business are that people are not used to seeing African American women selling supplements, skincare/hair, and body products. 

Trying to change that stereotype has been one of my greatest challenges.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The thing that sets me apart from others is my longevity in the beauty industry as a skincare and hair care professional. My products are custom-made and organic. 

I put a lot of love and experience into what I create. I am most proud of creating Purelistic Health and bringing it to the public. I currently have my products in three stores in the valley. 

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success? Success means having a PURPOSE! My purpose is to encourage people and let them know that they can do many things to change many lives if they live by example. I live my life as an example, especially when it comes to my children. 

I feel so blessed to be part of an industry that caters to self care. Just know all my products are made with love.
